FNV Blender animation help

Hi everyone

 

I've just about exhausted all the animation resources on the net related to F3, FNV and Oblivion. I'm trying to modify and create new 3rd person animations to minimize clipping with Dragbody's Fallout 4 Power armor overhaul, but I'm at the point where I feel like giving up. To me animation for these games is some almost lost arcane art and I have no idea how people managed to do it in the past. I've managed to learn the basics such as importing skeletons along with .kf files into blender, editing animations, exporting and implementing in game. But I haven't figured out the following:

 

1) How to attach a weapon to the skeleton

2) How to use IK with the vanilla skeleton

 

Can anyone help or point me to someone who can? I intend to write a proper guide on it once done so others won't have to struggle like this.
