Problem saves

Hi, I had a problem where by I could not save my game as it would crash. I managed to fix that and I can save as much as I want. My original save was called Gracie modded but all new saves go under a character just called gracie for some reason and will not load it just crashes. I can load all my old saves but no new ones.

Why are the saves going into a new character save? I have come too far to restart but I cannot work out what is going wrong.

I have some mods and use loot, I have cleaned all the dirty files using the loot instructions and I use skyrim script extender.

1. Try ReSaver.

 

2. Last ditch procedure for loading broken saves: Boot in Steam, load your save and then save. Quit. Then boot with Vortex or MO or whatever you're using. Load the new Steam save. Save.

This procedure can remove problem scripts, but it may remove some you wanted to keep. If you notice a mod not working as it should, reinstall it. (Don't delete the old copy, overwrite it.)

If this doesn't work, remove the last mod you installed and try again.

Thank you for the suggestions, unfortunately they have not solved my issue, but loading through steam and saving, it saved in the Gracie modded character and not the new Gracie character save which has let me know that the issue is not around which character save it goes to. By turning off my latest mod which was save cleaner, it made no difference and disabling the address library for skse plugins led to the game not starting.

One way for this to happen is using racemenu on the player. Changes made by calling racemenu in the "normal" way (console showracemenu) forces the player to create a new save vector (>>> character name?) Afterwards, you may notice that your "new" character" is saved in a different slot.

 

FWIW, I found another mod (A change of Face) that allows me to use racemenu on my player without forcing a "new character name?" on them, and therefore without forcing a new save vector. Bit of a nuisance since you have to "read a book", but if you have the quick menu addon (Favorite Misc Items) that allows use of non-trad items in quick menu, (books, other misc items...firewood for a campfire, etc) that can be made far more transparent. (I fire it directly from quickmenu)

 

tbh, at some point you'll probably find (like most of us) that some saves and some save vectors are simply broken beyond repair, and (presuming you haven't just installed some new mod that's breaking your game) the best (most productive use of your precious time) option is to backtrack through saves until you find the most recent that will open and working correctly, then use it and make whatever changes to that save/player/etc and move on, because the alternative is making Skyrim into a new game called "constantly debugging games"

Hey think I might know the issueâ¦.

 

Iâm having same found out Widows 10 updated and set

All folders to âread onlyâ which blocks the Documents/my games/Skyrim/ saves etc from getting any dataâ¦

 

 

Iâm trying to find a fix, but nothing works so far. Retarded that Bill gates even thinks he needs to protect us from being admins on our own computers

So I found that âinstallerâ was set for my C drive that houses your user profile and docs etc had not me set as admin ⦠Gates ð also fighting to remove ONE Drive that takes over as my Docs and is full.. With a GB I donât need Microsoft to have my info..
