TheOuroborus
So... Is this game dead or what? I haven't played it since before the Live! release of Anchorage (which I refuse to buy). As a PC gamer the Live! tie-in instantly killed my enthusiasm for the game. I've gone as far as I can in the game and since the G.E.C.K. isn't really a true modding tool, I'm done. FO3 is dead to me. Looks like there hasn't been a new post on Fallout3nexus since January either. Dead, I say. Bethesda shot themselves in the foot as far as the PC version of the game is concerned. I so wanted to keep playing expansions and watch the world grow. Now... no. It makes me sad.
xenophon21
Dead, hardly. If I recall correctly people thought much the same about Oblivion when it was first released, watered down clone of Morrowind with pretty graphics simplified mechanics. It also took a long time for quality mods to start being produced and longer still for the big three to start taking shape (OOO, MMM, FRAN). If anything Fallout 3 is more alive then Oblivion with Major mods already underproduction and released (XFO, FWE, MMM, and the newest one FOOK) and ones coming down the pipe like Valhalla. Many of Oblivions major tools have been ported over and improved as well as high res textures being created. Not only is the community putting out some quality work but Bethesda is too at least compared to previous DLC (notable exception is of course Knights of the Nine). While I agree that anchorage isnt all that great there other two works look a lot more promising. While you may not like this game anymore, they hardly shot themselves in the foot nor is the community dead (in so far as mods go I have no idea about the forums). If your looking for other games to tide you over you may want to check out Left for Dead for a fps or Drakensang for a rpg.
JohnGrimm
Don't know where you got the "Hasn't been a new post on Fallout3nexus since January" thing. If you mean the news updates.. umm okay? There hasn't been anything to report on the site owner's end. Check the latest files, there's usually 10 or so new uploads a day. Pretty far from dead there buddy. uherbert17
You got to be kidding me !!! Since when does a non linear game end when finishing its main quest , I mean after playing TES Oblivion & shivering isles I would have thought you guys got it(the game should not end until the player gets bored (and with all the mods out there he would just keep playing) giving us the customer excellent value for money. Make no mistake I looked at every review for fallout 3 and it was sparkling(mostly because i think the reviewers didn't play the game through) I looked at the features and concepts built into the game, i even spent weeks trying to find a windows copy (since it sold out so fast) and i would have gladly spent 3 times the amount of money for this game , from the beginning all that went through my mind was (kick-ass) even though i felt disappointed with the inventory and options screen, as it is obvious that the coders tried to hide lazy interface coding behind a vintage (80's style) interface, though there has been sum improvements from the oblivion style interface there where some features i missed very much (for instance a bartering system, and having all your items neatly sorted (with a picture) of what you are selling. I can say without a doubt that the the beginning of the game (where you can even blow an entire town off the map) it gave me the impression hat the character can have a very diverse and strong influence on the world he is occupying , and it made me push forward the main quest (just imagine the difference the change of the world and the life's of npc's when all water is purified). What about the characters left back in 101 , The game had an excellent setup for what could have been the greatest story ever told, but near the end the game had an extremely linear feel ( a sort of rush for time towards a goalpost ), too much unexplained, non logic motives. This game has all the makings of the best game ever created but a lot of people will agree with me that they feel the game has been rushed to meet a project deadline, I also would assume right that we would have patiently waited another 6 months even a year , and even paid double to see the masterpiece come to life. As for me I am packing this away to collect dust , while i roam through Cyrodill and all the (loads of quests and dimensions not yet explored), until maybe a add on can complete the game so many of us anticipated. Here's how to make it better: 1. Non Linear games does NOT END (EVER!!!!!)2. Organize inventory interface menu better (its the frikkin future after all)3. People like seeing how their actions make the world improve (how bout a nice big house and mansion, maybe a robot butler that polishes the metal on your rusted house , given the materials you give it), and lets activate and take ownership of sum factories.4. we have G.E.C.K something to be used to restore life to a barren uninhabitable planet, and we are going to use it as a water purification module, isn't it kinda like using a nuclear warhead to light a cigarette ( Say it with me LOGIC!!!!! )5. Where are all the tanks at: its post war , and not a single shot up tank in sight (plenty or military transport around)6. What can i cruse in ? since a scientist has the repair skill to assemble any weapon and disarm a nuke I bet he can assemble and fix a car or even a chopper. will make travel a whole lot more exciting.7. Unbalanced explosives:(unless the cars run on Uranium) whats with the mushroom cloud, and frag grenades that where you hit a far corner in a 9 by 9 meter room you're safe(severely underestimating the concussive force of a hand grenade), you might want to pay a visit to a military training camp, when that puppy falls right next to you you will be like :"holy S#1t, run forest run"8. Wheres the melee combat, I saw the same flaw in Oblivion, you got a razor sharp blade in your hand , now what to do : how about a few swings and a few directed power attacks ? or how about you storm into a group of enemy's make a running somersaults and back flips pulling our your razor sharp ninjato , swinging well coordinated a precise martial arts blows landing or your feet as your foe stands for a moment and then falls apart from an angle as his midsection has been sliced in two ? mite wanna ask those guys at Ubsoft how Dante(devil may cry) and prince of Persia does it , but there's something about their fighting style that makes you want more (there's a few of us who wouldn't mind the extra amount of keys it may require)9. Dual wielding and using both one handed weapons (a thing asked even from the beginning of Oblivion)10. Motives for enemies actions remain mysteries (I mean every bad guy cant be a mentally ill nutcase)11. Tidy it up a bit , U really want to tel us that people who have paint guns, hammers and loads of metal (probably smelting and forging technology) cannot create a single locker that does not look like it fell off a truck, and why would someone call his lab a place that has fallen over tables and papers all over ? Make no mistake this is one of the best games i ever played, but not the best (I was expecting this to be the best). Maybe more guys can come up with a few more good ideas

Spartan0536
Fallout 3, Dead?...NO! There are tons of mods even after a few moths of the GECK out there and some that have just been finalized and look and work GREAT! I am just one of the few mod makers out there, there is even a Crysis Nano-Suit that IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL! This game is FAR FROM DEAD it is just getting started! sumoftwosins
I hate Live, but you don't have to sign in to play the DLC. After you initially sign-in and buy the DLC you can move it to your Data folder and load it like normal mods instead of having to sign in to Live to play it. It isn't dead. I'm sure all of us have got burned out on it a bit. I know I have, but I've also been modding for the past 2 months. So I am really looking forward to playing the game fully once my mod is finished. The only thing I've been doing in-game is testing. There was a time I didn't want to play it, but now the excitement is building up again.
whiteraven247
I kindof felt the same way recently, it came to the point where i'd playd the game through and through. THEN i discovered the G.E.C.K was out there and came across this website and frankly i'm absolutly BLOWN away by what people have been doing. If bethesda had done half the job (all credit due them though) the fallout fans have been doing i believe it wouldv been the most talkd about gameupon release with a huge increase in sales. Im completly addicted now, everyday i'm checking out new mods and expanding fallout to be one of the most replayable games that i've ever come across all my days of gaming. So in response to your statment that fallout is dead.. I can see your point, but open your eyes mate.
GETbacon
I think It could have more (enough with the houses alredy) but the qwality is piking up with some medocore stuff to keep us amused till the next big thing hit's the nexus. The mod's will probaly start to Grade A by the time The Pitt dlc rolls around and every one has goten over there Isshues about ancoreage (not neceacarly in that order). I think that peopel will play around with the lore or just screw-it in genral and make a wickied mod. also I think Fallout is less mod frendly then Oblion, so once we put the trolls under the brigeis from whence they came. super moders might make mod's for the fun of it insted of peopel trying out the geck. As for now every one's just trying to fix the issues with it and make the wepons more power-ful (What 5 full clips to level a small raider camp). but the mod's will pick up and every one will be happeyz
VengfulSoldier
Unfortunately, this is a perfect case of ignorance is bliss, I could care less about LIVE, as long as it doesn't interrupt my gameplay or screw up my laptop...I'm perfectly content with it. You're criticizing at the "fresh picked remains" of an awesome game, or nit picking. I understand that not everyone is having the best experience, however, part of that is due to over whelming excitement become hype and then ancient saying "MY GAME D0E5N'T W0Rk AFTER I M0DiF1ED TEH MAIN INI!11!1!1!!!!1!!" I'm pointing the finger at everyone at this point including myself because I over hyped the game to my freind who thought it was awesome but didn't see the same thing I did. If you let the game die...fine, become one of a few who've decided that spending precious money is worth throwing a game away. We can't stop you, but we can keep playing and have a helluva time playing this damn awesome game!
