I love the NCR as much as the next guy, but I feel like they were way overdone in this game. Pretty much everything in the Mojave is controlled by the NCR, and they seem to have a huge influence and a presence in every town (with the exception of maybe goodsprings.) Even towns like Freeside and Novac have NCR presence, because of the NCR squatters in freeside, and Boone as well as Helios One being right next door to Novac.

It's possible to take over Camp Forlorn Hope and Helios One, but this game is seriously lacking Legion territory. I've looked everywhere, and I asked about a mod that has something like that on the Fallout subreddit and nobody knew of one. I know there is a mod that expands California territory, I have it but I can't remember what it was called. Like Beyond the Borders or something.

Anyways to summarize my request, I personally am terrible at modding, and I don't want to ruin the potential of a mod like

this. I could help with scripts (scripts like dialogue. Like what they're going to say. Not programming) for characters, voice acting, and ideas for locations and stuff but I don't really know how to mod very well. I'm hoping someone can expand the Legion Territory. There's plenty of room on the map for it, but nothing seems to be there right now. Just some legion supply routes, maybe some towns, some camps, and other stuff like that. Basically it would help show off the better side of the Legion (especially how they can defend their supply routes and towns.) and it would make it so the player doesn't have to feel so badly supporting the Legion. Maybe if you're a true NCR diehard fan you could also add some options to support some underground resistance movements and stop human trafficking and maybe go undercover as a Legionary with the NCR and help them take some towns/areas from the Legion. Anyways all I'm asking for is an expansion of Colorado or Arizona or whatever else is over there, and some more Legion territory. Right now it's so hard to side with the Legion not only because of the NCR territories but also because the game portrays them as bad guys, with only a few dialogue options that show the Legion territory being more safe. There are practically no raiders or bandits over there. The Legion should be able to be shown in a better light at some point in the game.

tl;dr: Someone please add a mod that expands Legion Territory and add some towns while you're at it please.

Here's a picture to show just how massive of an area they left out of the game that could've been used: http://i.imgur.com/7MEJAvT.jpg

EDIT: Added clarification and fixed a typo

Good luck with this. The developers never expanded the playable Legion area due to a lack of a time. It would be a pretty big undertaking. However, there was someone working on expanding the area past the gate where all the salves disappear through in the Legion Fort. Not sure what happened to that mod though.

As for the picture, do note that near the middle of the vertical oval marked area is the Deathclaw Promonotry which is fairly large sized So that area is out for Legion occupation.

You could always add spots farther to the North or south, or possibly expand the map like a DLC. It would be a big undertaking though, and would require a lot of work. That's why I was saying that I would be happy to help with voice acting and stuff like that. The Deathclaw Promonotry is a problem, but we could always reduce it in size slightly and make a Legion town similar to how Sloan was behind it. Or maybe add a quest that has Legionaries fighting the deathclaws along the ridges, because the deathclaws keep making it into camp or into the town and killing people. I don't know really, but there are still options on how to handle something like that. Hopefully someone decides to help with this mod, as I can't really do it myself.

I was considering expanding to Yuma for Devin's Ghost Warrior mod...

That's a great idea! I'll be sure to check out your mod when you get closer to finished on it. I'm glad to see that someone is working on something for Arizona and legion territory. The only thing I'm worried about is how long ago the original thread was made. Is this not in development at all? You should get a team together to work on this, because it's great.

I did write an outline for one Legion-oriented questline, Sinners and Slaves; here's a description from an earlier post:

If I can ever get to it, my dream mod dealing with the Legion would be Sinners and Slaves, wherein the Courier joins a Legion-friendly caravan bound for Flagstaff, only to be ambushed and captured by escaped slaves waging a guerrilla campaign against the Legion. The player would indeed discover the "Civilization" (not sarcastic - it's just different than what players are used to) that the Legion is building, as well as a surprising degree of support from local subjects (discounting slaves, lol). Ultimately the player would choose between supporting the slaves or the Legion, with the ability to influence the actions of each faction.

Interestingly, the majority of escaped slaves would favor a course of total warfare and plunder against the Legion (that's what likely doomed Spartacus' army), with the ultimate goal of sacking Flagstaff and then building their own nation (which ironically, would end up using slavery, as often happens with real-life slave revolts). On the other hand, the player could push for a number of the slaves to make a dangerous trek to NCR territory. It's not unlike the "Fight or Flight" choice in Honest Hearts, though the "Fight" option is more complicated, and would doubtless involve the slaughter of many innocent people by vengeful slaves. Many players stridently despise the Legion, and I believe this would put them in a challenging dilemma similar to what "good" players experienced in The Pitt.

Of course, any player siding with the Legion and protecting "Civilization" would have to conduct and/or oversee the termination or crucifixion of numerous slaves (to include women and children), something that might be jarring to even the most ardent Legion supporters.

Either way, a lot of slaves would perish, and hopefully the player would be second-guessing his/her actions after the mod. The murky morality in this outline is owed to my recent research on historic slave uprisings, most of which were violently suppressed in quick fashion, or imploded due to infighting, instability, and/or anarchy in the subsequent power vacuum.

I've still got to finish Russell, The Siege of Firebase Zulu, and New Vegas Bounties III, but afterwards... we'll see. Valve time and what not.

NVBII version 1.3 (beta build, so use with caution) includes a new worldspace set in Legion territory, "Canyon Cove", which is a slave trading hub set on the Colorado River. It's not as fleshed-out as a legit town, but there are civilians present (though most of them depend on the slave trade). To visit this worldspace, play the quest "Enemy of my Enemy".

Awesome! Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed New Vegas Bounties I, and I've been slowly playing through New Vegas Bounties II (but my computer is being repaired, so I haven't been able to play it much lately) but I haven't gotten to Canyon Cove yet. I'll be sure to check out some of your other mods when they come out, and some of your previous ones as well. I really like the work you're doing, and I'd love to see what you could make with a Legion mod or an Arizona type mod. Once again if you need any help with voice acting I'd be happy to help. I haven't done too much voice acting work before, but I used to be a commentator on youtube back when 4,000 subscribers actually meant something, so i must have been doing something right. Since my voice is sort of generic, I could definitely do some voice acting as some of the slaves you were mentioning, or maybe a low level type character (a commander or a slave owner or something?) with some dialogue and/or short backstory.

Thanks, it's one of those projects that's been sitting on the back-burner for a while, and will remain there until I can grind through my other endeavors.

As for the VO, most everything is finished in the NVB updates, but I will be recruiting for Russell soon enough. I'll send you PM when I post the roles.

  • 3 months later...

I'm glad to hear someone else wanted a mod to show legion territory. Hopefully this thread isn't dead. I have zero experience modding but thought(as if there weren't enough people with ideas but no experience) of the same basic thing. You could probably use an old train tunnel of something to connect it to a new land, you would just make the new area relatively small. One thing I think would look great is if outside the town(s) you have lots of people being/have been crucified since the legion would use them as a warning. You could have a rapist crucified right next to a common thief since as far as the legion is concerned they're both property crimes. If you are willing to really work on it there could be a stadium turned into a coliseum, legionaries patrolling the streets, other things to show both the brutality and the safety of the Legion at the same time almost like how the vanilla games use the whole 50s culture and feel.
