Trouble on the Homeland

The first time I played through, I killed the overseer on my way out. The second time I let him live.

Now snce I didn't harm him at all and I won't kill Mack, do I still get expelled from the vault permanently?

If you do that sucks haha

There's pretty much no way to not get expelled from the vault forever, save a bug that leaves the door open indefinitely.

Bah, I agree that it sucks that the player gets booted from the Vault. Only cool thing is that it resembles the ending of the original Fallout. Sorta.

I merely messed up their water system

(Butch's idea)

, waited for everyone to flee and left. Several days later, I returned to vault 101 out of curiosity to find it still open, but completely empty. So there's really no way to return and still see people around, sorry. However, I think I've heard of a mod that allows you to return to the vault again. Unfortunately, I forgot what the name was nor whether it's still in production. :(

If you're talking about the first time exiting, I only know of one way to get back in. And that requires that you have completed The Waters of Life quest and then re-entered the outer chamber of Vault 101 and picked up the distress signal.

You'll notice, floggingmolly, that the title of this thread is the title of the quest granted by the distress signal. From that we can assume that he already knows what you've told him.

As for being expelled from the Vault, it's inevitable. If you do something that opens the Vault, the people inside will leave - you may run into them out in the world. But that's the only way you'll see them again, and even then they say they probably shouldn't be talking to you.

i dont see why amata is mad at you at all...

i found a way to not kill her father and if you mess with the water system you might convince her (lying) it was the new overseer who did it.

that way she's ot mad at you, but i haven't found her or the other vault inhabitants in the wasteland later...

however i havent found a way to keep up the vault and keep it open...
