UmbraCruor
I'm currently attempting to run Oblivion on an HP laptop with Vista and an nvidia graphics card, and I've already disabled UAC. My old laptop which also ran on Vista worked fine with it after disabling UAC But, even with UAC disabled, Oblivion recognizes all the hot keys except the ~((forget the technical word for it, sorry)) and it won't run any mods of any kind I've tried putting on it The laptop runs everything else quite a bit better than my old one did...except Oblivion...which seems to not be running at all. Checked the disks and they're fine from what I can see((I have the game of the year edition)) and I've uninstalled and reinstalled it completely I think 3 times now and currently have every trace of it off my system, but I've got no clue what's going on =/
Sin911
Try this:Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security. For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder. That quote came from here: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...n_Windows_Vista

bben46
A problem on many laptops is the Infrared port is automatically turned on, although very few people use it. For some reason I have never understood, Microsoft seems to disable the '~' key when using IR. Try disabling the infrared port. Windows will probably pop up with a helpful 'New Hardware Found' and attempt to install it unless toy make it permanent. As to not running Oblivion, have you checked to see if the video card in the laptop is compatible with Oblivion? And if you have the latest graphics drivers installed?
