Ulthar88
I am a subscriber and I love Nexus Mods - I thought I would just say that first. The Vortex tool is a little intimidating to me. I was using Fallout4s internal mod tool initially because I wanted a simple experience. However, after some conclusions I decided to delete all of that and get Vortex and use that exclusively for Mods with Fallout 4.I selected a bunch of mods and initially the experience worked just fine. However, now I am at a stage of performing updates and I am lost. Can you explain it to me in simple language:my goal is to make the experience of updating mods as painless and as automatic as possible. Here is what I am doing:I only use Vortex mods for a few games. I have Fallout 4 and Skyrim. When I login with the profile for Fallout 4 I click "Check for Updates" in the mods section. The system scans and tells me that some have a new version (with a drop down showing the versions available) while others have an orange download from the cloud symbol and patch notes.1. WHY? Why does it do it two ways? This where everything goes wrong for me. At this stage, I would wish the system would just download the mods updates and deploy them. 2. Is there a setting (and if so where) that would do that? Here is what I do: I futz around with the drop downs and pick the highest number, or click the orange button. The system asks me if I want to update this mod for the the current or all profiles. Since I only have one fallout 4 profile I say "This profile" and proceed. The system then throws some error message along the lines of this is already installed or something and then disables the mod.Whatever happens I usually re-enable and then click "Deploy mods" with the assumption that I may be updating the mod properly.3.What am I doing wrong here? is there a simple way to download everything to this profile without clicking individually?I've included a snippet screen shot. Obviously, some had an earlier version before and do not have the orange box for earlier versions, while others do have the orange box. That is puzzling. I guess thats not such a big mystery as I am really supposeed to click on each of these, and then download it, go through the "update current profile" dialog everytime I check for updates?
