Ajores
I've been looking up and down the internet for any material that can teach me about merge patches, and there is a severe lack of information on the subject unless you already know what it is it would seem. I've heard it said that Sharlikran has released some videos a while back explaining merge patches or general TES5Edit uses, but every link to those videos have reported to me that the videos have been removed. If that truly is the case, is there anyone that can recommend to me some merge patch literature or other materials that DOESN'T reiterate how to clean mods (this I know how to do and is the only thing that's well explained in layman's terms regarding TES5Edit)? I will read anything! I have TES5Edit with the merge patch script all installed and ready to go, and I've had some success with it. The problem is that I've hit over 200 .esps and I've noticed that my game has taken a major dip in stability (where as before the ENB stability patch was allowing me to play for a great deal of time before I had a CTD). I'm not sure what's going on, because while I have a lot of script mods installed it didn't seem like they were directly interfering with each other and they seemed to be playing nice. The problem could be that I have simply too many, it could be my ESP list is too large, it could be that there are some conflicting scripts. What I want to do is be able to use TES5Edit to find out what is going on, but I don't know how to use it beyond making some automated merge patches that doesn't quite solve my issues. I want to learn how to see these scripts and how to clearly tell if there are mods that are, in fact, having a script conflicts, and then how to correctly fix these conflicts. What I'd also like to know is: what did you guys do to learn how to effectively use merge patches? I understand what the automated ones are doing, but when it comes to identifying and fixing conflicts myself I'm at a complete loss other than hoping any conflicts will be resolved if I make a automated patch. ATM I'm going through the STEP complete install (which I've done with MO) and I'm trying to completely merge a few .esps using the merge script 1.3 while avoiding merging mods with scripts since that seems to not go over so well. So far I ignore any mods that have a magic or quest header (since these files seem to contain the majority of scripts) and I merge the rest. Is this correct? I appreciate any help! TLDR: Where did the Sharlikran videos go? Is anyone willing to help guide me towards learning proficient TES5Edit functions?
phoenixdemon
why are you obsessed by merge pach? :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck:
Ajores
The point is I want to learn about them, and there's no good information about them and every post that has good information for a beginner refers back to Sharlikran in one way or another. I've hit a road block in trying to educate myself, and it ticks me off :P I'm not trying to simply find a temporary fix to my compatibility or stability problems, I'm trying to educate myself so that I can identify and deal with these problems in the future. I already use MO, BOSS, BUM, WryeBash (for Bashed Patches), and several Skyproc patches and FNIS. Merge patches are new to me, and I don't want to bumble through TES5Edit before I can properly understand what I'm doing.
