Deleted1868121User
I'm testing some mods for compatibility and everything has worked great so far, except for one minor thing - wondered if anyone else have experienced this: When I'm creating a new character, clicking the first (top) Character Preset Slider to the right 8 times works fine, but doing it one more time (9th click) results in CTD. Thandal
How did you manage the editing of the chargenmorphcfg.xml file to accomodate: CC Extra Tints and Tones, More Hairstyles, Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors, and Tucked Hair? Each of those has its own .xml, so depending on how you combined them we may have identified the problem.
Deleted1868121User
Thank you so much, that narrows it down a bit. I (now, after your input) used Terra_Ex's CharGenMorph Compiler to fix it. When starting the game up again and making a new character, I now only have (the original?) 8 presets to work with. Though it looked like all the eye options and hair options were still there and working great. It looked like there were maybe double that number (15/16 or so) of presets before running CharGenMorph Compiler. If there is any way to keep more presets than the 8 I now have, I'd really like to know, but it's no big deal. One more thing:I am no modder/programmer, but would like to contribute in some small way. I would like to make a simple and straightforward list of essential mods for newcomers, and how to install them (chronologically, if and when necessary) before playing, since looking for such a list myself on the forums didn't yield any decisive results, only scattered threads with lists people have tried, on different forums and threads. Could maybe be a sticky later on? Example, in order of "importance": The Big Four, fixing the game to work as it should, for purists1. Qwinns Fixpack (description/what it does) - [download link]2. DA Rules Fixpack3. Morrigan Restoration Fixpack4. Silverite Mine Bug Fix Other mods5. Dragon Age Mutator6. Dialogue Tweaks7. DLC in Awakening and Awakening Fixes8. Forced Deathblows9. Lock Bash Mods you will need to download, install and then merge with CharGenMorph Compiler10. CC Extra Tints and Tones11. More Hairstyles12. Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors13. Tucked Hair 14. CharGenMorph Compiler 15. Extended Dog Talents16. Extended Dog Slot17. Madd Gift Guide ...and so on. The list could be tried and tested, and people could provide input for rearranging the list if necessary, and mods could be color coded in green, yellow and red to show compatibilty/issues people have reported. I know I would have greatly appreciated such a list when I first lurked the forums, but any thoughts are welcome. Thandal
I'd say those "extra" slots were probably the cause of the CtD.None of those mods (are supposed to) add FACE presets, just new hair styles, and hair, eye, skin, and makeup looks and colours. The game uses the cgmc.xml file to map resources (textures and meshes) to the slider positions. It can only use ONE such file, which needs to contain all the required mappings. If it get messed up, things like your CtDs happen. I have all of those same CC mods installed, (plus several others) and for a Dwarf Female I have: 9 Faces58 Skin Tones64 Hair Styles64 Eye Colours...You get the idea. Once can, in fact, have more FACE presets. It's just that the mods you're using don't include any.
Deleted1868121User
You're obviously right, and thanks for the clarification. Seems everyone of the styles are working as they should now. If I may ask; do you have any good recommendations for mods that add more face presets? I've been wanting to try something like the "AT Malcolm Grey Warden of Sacred Ashes and Warden Calling", but the description was quite messy and the toolset seems a little daunting, so I thought some presets would be simpler for making some new characters.
