Issues with Weapon Textures

I've been noticing that the textures on my new weapons have been strange when viewed from a distance:

See the black lines along the geometry?

I'm not sure whats happening. Ive messed with the textures and the normal maps, but no change. Its really irritating as it takes away from the weapon.

hmmm i dont know if this would cause the problem, but i always use DXT3 for most stuff. also what tool were you using for the conversion gimp plugin, photoshop plugin, dds-converter?

 

but maybe im totally on the wrong track.

Ill try DXT3, and I use the photoshop plugin.

is the background of the texture file black? possibly its the padding on the uv map (im not sure if theres a proper word for it), and you just need to extend the texture a few pixels in each direction. just a shot in the dark.

im starting to run out of ideas :sweat: is it possibly the normal map has deep lines in it causing shadows?

its wierd that it happens in 3ds aswell, thats what made me think that maybe the texture wasnt extending all the was to the edge of the uvs.
