Thefixr
Ok, so I want to edit an Npc's face in the GECK. but the problem is the face preview is blank. Nothing there. I have the npc selected, and all the tools work (I think, Its not like I can see them working) (an image of the nothingness)What do?(p.s, I have no esps selected, if thats anything to go on, I didnt think I would need one however, as i'm only editing vanilla files anyways)
pkleiss
That sounds like a GECKCustom.ini problem, though I am unaware of exactly which setting needs to be added/changed. The faces work in my Geck, so I have listed here all the ini setting that had 'face' in them (plus one I saw with eye). Maybe matching to my setting will help??? These are all under the {General] heading... pkleiss
Disabling an ESP is not enough when it comes to body mod replacers as these mods often add loose files or BSAs which overwrite the original meshes and textures. You would have to ensure that no residual ENB files are left over in the \Data folder and its sub-folders \meshes and \textures (and their sub-folders) to ensure that the game is resorting back to using its original meshes and textures. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with ENB and can't tell you exactly what those files might be. But if you have the original archive, open it and see what files it installed, look for them on your hard drive and delete them. The worst that can happen is that you would have to reinstall ENB to replace the files you deleted. If you don't already know, the original game meshes and textures are stored in BSA files, so you can't permanently harm your game by deleting files from the \meshes and \textures folders (though you can harm add-on mods). It is also worth noting that if you use more than one body mod, each of those mods may have overwritten the same file. A prime example is the female textures in \data\textures\characters\female folder. Edited August 10, 2013 by pkleiss
prensa
Thefixr - Hello!"I cant seem to find any solution online besides enb related issues."All issues related to that preview window being blank seem to be ENB related as far as I've been able to find too.Since you've got an ENB it makes me think it's possibly your problem. As pkleiss says, make sure you've removed the ENB completely & test the preview window in GECK.The suggestion of checking the ENB's original download archive to see what got installed to aid removal is definitely a good idea.I don't use ENB's either so I'm not familliar with them but I did find someone else with the blank windows like you on vgunetwork who thought they'd removed the ENB completely but had left behind a .dll that was still causing the trouble:"EDIT: FIXEDthe d3d9.dll kept reproducing the enbseries.ini file every time i started the GECK or the gameso even if i deleted it... it rose from its ashes like the phoenixanyway, I removed the d3d9.dll and the GECK works right now"I notice some ENB's like Midhrastic ENB mention the d3d9.dll in their uninstallation instructions:"To uninstall, simply remove all files that were put in your Fallout 3 folder, and restore the original Fallout d3d9.dll."Checking your ENB for uninstallation instructions would be another possible source of help.Hope this helps!Prensa
pkleiss
Wow, prensa - hello! I thought I heard everything, but a mod that overwrites a Direct X dll file? That's just crazy. That must be part of some installer program, because, as you know, a dll is nothing more than a library of functions used by some executable - and no mod requires its own exe file (well, no mod until ENB)! By your description, it sounds like the ENB installer modifies ini settings on the fly - a thing you can also do with FOSE commands from within a script in a mod. I can't help but wonder what else about ENB relies on the custom d3d9.dll? How absolutely mischievous!
prensa
pkleiss - Hello!"I thought I heard everything, but a mod that overwrites a Direct X dll file?"It is a little odd, seems most of these ENB's use a custom d3d9.dll.Many warn the user to make a backup of the original d3d9.dll first.I've never used an ENB mod myself, I've always been happy with the look of Fallout 3, apart from a good weather mod that is. :)Prensa
