jheise44
I am getting weird FPS lag in a handful of places. So far it is only in Jorrvaskr basement when I am looking towards Kodlak's room and when I enter the Radiant Raiment in Solitude. So far in this save game those are the only 2 places I have encountered it. Texture mods I am using include: -Detailed Rugs-Skyrim HD FULL-Static Mesh Improvement Mod-Enhanced Lights and FX-Climates of Tamriel-RealVision ENB 0.200 ENB performance ini (followed the ini tweaks on the mod page to a T)-aMidianBorn Book of Silence-Silly Level of Detail Potions, Poisons, and Wine Cellar-Ultimate HD Fire Effects-Book covers of Skyrim-A few improved face mods for men and women I had a Radeon HD 6850 1GB and recently upgraded to a Radeon HD 7950 3GB. This makes me think it is more of a graphics card issue. I have the latest drivers. I never got massive dips in FPS until I got this new card. It only occurs in those 2 places so far. I have 60 FPS full time anywhere in the game. In Jorrvaskr basement when I look at Kodlaks room I get 8 FPS and in the Radiant Raiment I get about 20 FPS. I am baffled as to why this is happening. Any help would be much appreciated. Seeing as how I am the Harbinger of the companions, it makes utilizing the bedroom far less appealing  Thanks! jheise44
Just want to update because I fixed the problem. Just in case anyone else has this issue. I had iShadowMapResolution=4096. Apparently there is some issue indoors with it. So if anyone has this problem change that to 2048 in your prefs ini.
Dkboy24
I was having an FPS issue as well. I have a nice gaming rig but today I installed the CTD & ENBoost mod and so far it has been great. I've been playing now for about 3 hours without any FPS issues or CTD's. I'm maintaining a solid 50-60 FPS even in some of the places you mentioned above. That is a great tip though, I will remember this post just in case my issue comes back.

fuzzysatchel
Just and update to the iShadowMapResolution when I changed it did help but after some time of testing when I entered other underground areas it caused CTD so I may have other problems and this is just for me. wolfhound2023
I have been having the exact same problem in the exact same places: Radiant Raiment and the Jorvvaskr basement. I also run with ELFX and SMIM, so I was thinking the culprit was one of those high end SMIM meshes. Will try with the new shadow map setting. Brandonhortman
Same thing here. Can't find any certain info about it and everyone says there is no compatibility issues, but if I uninstall ELFX the problem in Kodlaks room goes away. Mine is already set at 2048 also =/
Brandonhortman
This is the fix!!! Who ever figured this one out is a gentleman and a scholar! QuoteBug: Severe performance drop in 'CELL - WhiterunJorrvaskrBasement' when looking in the direction of Kodlak's quarters while the player stands at the far opposite end of the hallway. (search tags: ELFX Jorrvaskr ENB shadow SMIM FPS)Cause: Enhanced Lights and FX when combined with the improved chandelier mesh from Static Mesh Improvement Mod or Ruins Clutter Improved produces slowdown due to the complex and unoptimized shadow math involved. Additionally, if using ENB, the performance drop will affect fps to a critical degree (self-anecdotal evidence reports a 89% drop in framerate) and rendering the hallway largely unplayable.Recommended Solution: Rename the single offending mesh, allowing use of the remaining improved chandelier. Do this for both Ruins Clutter Improved and Static Mesh Improvement Mod. Self-anecdotal evidence resulted in an immediate performance increase.meshes/clutter/imperial/impchandelliercandle01.niftomeshes/clutter/imperial/impchandelliercandle01.nif.mohiddenSecondary Solution: Reduce accidental Ultra-quality shadows within 'Skyrim.ini'. This is based off of the recommended advice found within the Enhanced Lights and FX thread. Anecdotal evidence from multiple users within said thread reported conflicting success.iShadowMapResolution=4096toiShadowMapResolution=2048The iShadowMapResolution line is in skyrimprefs.ini
skysan4298
I found a solution to use ELFX + SMIM + ENB, and uploaded a small mod that fixed this issue. This fix can be used with any ENB preset. You can use the SMIM 3d improved chandelier mesh with ELFX and ENB if you activate my fix after ELFX.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38917"ELFX SMIM ENB fps fix" download I found 6 cells with this fps performance issue, and the "ELFX SMIM ENB fps fix" download fix those.+ Jorrvaskr basement+ Solitude Radiant Raiment+ Fellglow Keep+ FaldarsTooth+ Fort GreyMoor+ Fort GreenWall Edited October 2, 2014 by skysan4298
