showler
That's a FOSE error, not the patcher. If you just downloaded the game you probably need to get the new downgrade patch and use that.

showler
Revert to the default version (have Steam "repair" if necessary). Then use this instead: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913

showler
FOSE won't work with the new version of Fallout 3. The file I linked downgrades the new version to the previous version so that FOSE will work and also installs the 4GB patch. Install the patch I linked, and then also install the FOSE you linked. M48A5
Bethesda Softworks updated Fallout 3 to remove the need for Games For Windows Live to play the game. The updated game will not work with the current version of FOSE. You need to install the Fallout Anniversary Patcher Fallout Anniversary Patcher at Fallout 3 Nexus , then install FOSE. That is the only way the updated game will work until FOSE gets an update to work with the updated Fallout 3.

showler
Then you probably didn't follow the instructions for the patcher correctly. Did you put the files in your Fallout 3 directory with Fallout3.exe? Did you run the patcher.exe program? Did it report any errors? Are you starting the game with Fallout3.exe?
