bamfwalrus
I don't really understand why more hasn't been done to mod how the settlement charts work, as I know this is a very common issue for users based on the countless reddit topics and posts about how awful the settlement charts are compared to every other type of chart. The issue is that settlement charts overwhelmingly tell you to leave the planet you use them on, even if its a paradise planet with 3-4 settlements without even spawning more. (I have personally confirmed they exist BEFORE using a chart, so stop saying that using a chart is what makes them generate, that is not true. Went to a busy planet, visited most of the settlements (of maybe 7-8 total), screenshot the coordinates, and I never left my ship or saved. Restart game in offline, go back (game said "First Contact"/I discovered the planet), the settlements I visited were all still there any not owned. After the existing settlements are claimed, yeah, they may force new ones, but planets still can have many settlements spawn even without any player interaction.) Usually the planets they are on are very harsh planets, which is ridiculous given there is half a dozen other options on the planet you use the chart on. Look at the alien or structure charts too, they work totally differently, and its rare that they tell you to go off-world, unless you have located every landmark on that planet already... Settlement charts don't work at all that way right now. I've had to reset my save nearly 30 freaking times just to locate ONE settlement on the planet I want, and then its still highly unlikely that if you keep doing that that it will show a new settlement (but that can happen). Not even to mention the fact that you can get "location interference" like 20 times, and then try 21 it will suddenly be able to locate one. -_-I'm hoping someone out there has the ability to either expand the number of settlements that can be charted in a system from 1 to like 20, and/or making a mod that just doesn't allow charts to function off the planet they're used on. I've modded the other charts myself a tiny bit at times, but it the settlement ones seem to function differently in the game data files and I can't figure out how to do anything with them... Oh also if anyone can figure out how to do this, I'd be super interested to hear what you did to modify these, I'm trying to learn/be less helpless, lol.
