need help with a follower mod

im making a follower mod that uses the epic elves race as a base but every time i save and reload it the race resets to fox race. how do you use a race from another esp in a mod and all the settings stay put.?

Try using WyreBash to make the ESP you're wanting to use as a base to an ESM temporarily (right click the ESP, then ESMify Self in WyreBash), then load up the CK Fair warning, that will affect the load order after this point, so when you're done, put the ESP where it was. After that, click the mods that are required, then start making the follower. Just make sure when you save and close the kit that you go back to WyreBash and make the base mod an ESP again or you may have issues. I really wish people who make custom races make the races as ESMs. It makes it easier to mod followers.
