LordXayd
I'm working on a player home and have gotten to the armory, where I've been thinking about mannequins. There are several mods that offer mannequins for use in your home of choice. But every one of them appears plagued with a variety of issues including wandering, disappearing, lack of functionality, re-posing, etc. I had a lot of trouble with my skyrim mannequins, even the native ones that came with Heathfire. Danthegeek's NV mannequins are a port from a FO3 mod that several folks have sourced from. My experience with Danthegeek's is that they're pretty reliable, but I suspect he made some "special modifications" that I probably wouldn't have a prayer of replicating. Even so, intentionally introducing something that it likely to be fraught with bugginess is not part of my K.I.S.S. philosophy. So, what I've been thinking about doing instead is placing a selection of static mannequins in the armory dressed in some of the most eye-catching equipment sets in the game. While there are default static mannequins in NV, you cannot dress them. Indeed, armor sets can only be placed on live NPCs. Now while I could create pre-dressed NPCs that are ordered not to move or do anything other than just stand there non-interactively (even going so far as to not NavMesh under their feet), I know from experience that this is no guarantee that they won't move. It seems to work 9 times out of 10. But if 500 download my mod, that means 50 folks will experience issues. Therefore, this is not acceptable as a solution. So I'm hoping that someone knows a trick that I don't that will allow me to create a pre-dressed static. While it would be nice for them to be interactive, I prefer a 100% bug-free solution. I do have an eye for aesthetics, so I'm pretty sure I can put something together that most will like. My one example that I can provide that perhaps one of you can springboard off of is the "APADisplay". This is a static Enclave dressed "mannequin" in the Remnants Bunker.
