charwo
That's not what I meant. You don't need to remesh. The Jacket effect should be able to be done merely by texture. And...the Eisenhower jackets are dark brown. This is the why I'm s#*! at textures but here's the template:http://imageshack.us/a/img829/9522/zwq8.png She, all it is is taking that central part of the jacket, the part that defines it as jacket versus shirt and painting it on which I think could be done by cut an paste. The entire shirt section is then turned a dark leathery brown not unlike this Enclave flight jacket:http://static2.nexusmods.com/130/mods/images/41656-1-1304512989.png Ending up with this:http://imageshack.us/a/img812/3025/8i9t.jpg over this:http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/2/2d/General_Olivers_uniform.pngAnd the reason I showed the SA version is that the green pants would make the whole thing Olive Drab. Then adding the US insignia from any general's overcoat should finish the job. And personally I'd like to see the end of the straps and buckles on the boots, but that's not overly important. What is important is the final contrast between the shirt and tie with the darker leather jacket, roughly like so: http://imageshack.us/a/img196/3093/czpf.jpg
charwo
And the buttons! Those buttons on the pockets need to be added to the seam of the jacket in lieu of the zipper. As in:http://imageshack.us/a/img46/9517/2i9x.jpg
devinpatterson
That's not what I meant. You don't need to remesh. Ending up with this: Probably not. In the same way that a tuxedo shirt doesn't fool anybody into believing your wearing a tuxedo. For instance the normal map is still going to be the shirt, instead of a jacket with depth. Sounds like the wrong way to do it to me, but you can cover that ground with Dangman4ever, and maybe it will work out for you.
charwo
I agree sorta. But looking at the meshes I've noticed a lot of the effects aren't the mesh work: they're shading in the textures. Goes a long, long way. Look at the blue Ambassador Crocker's retext. Takes the rattiest, most worn and wrinkled clothing in the game and makes it crisp and beautiful and perfect. If only he'd done a female variant...
dangman4ever
There are great examples of people doing great effects via textures and the normal maps. However, in this particular case, to get the real sense that there is indeed a jacket being worn over the shirt, you're going to need a jacket mesh. In the case of the Ambassador Crocker retext, it was already a suit and jacket in the first place. So the effect of a jacket wasn't too hard to do with the textures and normal map. In any case, devin already did the mesh work so it's a moot point. Turns out that the Boomer jacket and Tunnel Snake jacket uses the same UVmap shape of sorts. In other words, you can easily swap in the textures of the Boomer Jacket over the Tunnel Snake jacket without issue. A lot easier to turn the Boomer Jacket into an officer jacket than the Tunnel Snake Jacket. Before I left for work, I was trying to get the front pockets to look right before I did the Jacket recolor. Side note: the creator of that Ambassador Suit retext did provide open permission to use the assets in his mod in other mods as long you credit him. So a female version of that outfit with that new retext might be possible. Not on my home PC right now so can't double check how much the work is though. dangman4ever
ok, here's a test of my PC wearing the outfit:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/dangman4ever/ScreenShot387_zps9ae1bb2e.png Yes I know the pockets are too dark. Trying to fix that now. But besides that, thoughts?
charwo
Actually yes. The jacket itself is GREAT! The Pockets need to be redone, as in the ones from Oliver's uniform, and the stars taken off. And....the pants need to be green. Because as I showed above, olive drab means beige shirt (like so, green tie acceptable) and dark green pants, much like the SA uniform. And if you want that Enclave really believes itself the last of America, the US insignia, which is on General Chas'es and the US Army General's Uniform from Lonesome Road, and put on the lapel. But the Jacket itself....AWESOME!
dangman4ever
I think the Enclave fully accepts that it's a continuation of the U.S government in another form. So I don't think having the US insignia is really needed. That and if I do add in the U.S insignia from the US General uniform from LR, I or you would have to require LR to be loaded as a master for the mod in order to comply with Nexus policies. And you wanted to paint the jacket on.......;) Anyway, out right now so won't be able upload the file until late tonight.
dangman4ever
All right, latest version:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/dangman4ever/ScreenShot391_zpse5061ef0.png The General's Stars have been removed but I haven't updated the normal map to reflect that. Thoughts?
charwo
That'll Work! Except the stars on the collar, that would identify a junior officer as a general. Thank you!
