TBSteve
Alright, every time I get into combat with another NPC, whether from a MOD or from the original Vanilla game, my game freezes and I have to control alt delete to get out of it. Here is a couple screens of my load order: http://oi44.tinypic.com/28wkqoo.jpg http://oi44.tinypic.com/2lk654k.jpg if anyone could put me in the right direction, that would be AWESOME, because this is a big problem, obviously lol. TBSteve
Well, I went and did something stupid. I installed FO3 Unofficial Patch, and now nothing will start. prensa
TBSteve - Hello!"Well, I went and did something stupid. I installed FO3 Unofficial Patch, and now nothing will start."The UF3P is an excellent patch & a good idea to have.If it's causing a crash on startup make sure you've not got a UF3P DLC plugin ticked for a DLC you don't have. For example don't use the UF3P Point Lookout plugin if you don't have Point Lookout. The UF3P has only one serious bug, the crash on saves around Project Purity/Rivet City when using the UF3P's Broken Steel plugin. That's easily fixed with this guide:http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=401813"I am trying to get rid of it, but I fear I may have to reinstall everything"The UF3P has a built in uninstall, if you used the .exe it'll have a folder in the start menu with that option."my game freezes and I have to control alt delete to get out of it. "Freezing is almost always due to the Fallout 3 multi core bug.Fallout 3 has trouble with multi core computers, mainly with ones that have more than two cores & use hyperthreading. There is a fix, you need to edit your Fallout 3 .ini file. The one you want to change is:For XP:My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\For Vista & Win7:Documents\My Games\Fallout3The file you want will be called:FALLOUT.iniOpen the .ini with Notepad & change this line:bUseThreadedAI=0to:bUseThreadedAI=1& insert this line under it:iNumHWThreads=2Save & close your ini.Hope this helps!Prensa
TBSteve
Hey thank you very much for your reply and suggestion! I edited the .ini file, so hopefully my initial problem should be fixed. However, my game will not start. I'm going to write a short list of what I did to try and fix my problem:Uninstalled DC RANGER ARSENALInstalled unofficial FO3 patchthen it wouldn't start. My fear is that I already had the FO3 patch, but if I did, would it not just be overwrited? I followed Gopher's videos when putting all my mods together, and I just can't figure out why my game won't start. As per usual, it is probably something staring me in the face. Hope you can help me further!
TBSteve
I think I am going to just re-install everything. I royally messed up something, tried every fix I could find, still nothing. :(
prensa
TBSteve - Hello!"However, my game will not start"Crash on startup of modded Fallout 3 is almost always due to a missing master, in other words you're using an .esp without another file that it needs. In your mod manager you can left click on each of the plugins & their Masters will be listed at the bottom. You must have all the masters listed or else using that plugin will crash the game on start up.For example if one of those mods require CALIBR & you do not have it the game will crash on start up."Uninstalled DC RANGER ARSENAL"Did you leave a patch related to that mod when you uninstalled? If so when you start Fallout it will look for it's master, find it's not there & cause a crash.Double check you've removed every plugin related to it.If you made a merged patch it must be remade after uninstalling any mod.If you still can't track down the cause, turn off your mods one at a time checking between each to see when the game stops crashing on startup. That way you can find the culprit & check it's documentation for it's requirements."My fear is that I already had the FO3 patch, but if I did, would it not just be overwrited?"Don't confuse the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch for the Official patches, they are two different things entirely & won't conflict with each other. If you have the Game Of The Year (GOTY) version of Fallout 3 then you don't need the official patches as that's already the latest version. You can see Fallout 3's version by going to the main menu, selecting Settings - Display & it will be in the bottom left corner.GOTY being the latest 1.7.0.3.Hope this helps!Prensa
TBSteve
I appreciate your answer! I will admit I did freak out and uninstall everything and have done a fresh, 10x more careful install this time, and all my problems are, I won't say fixed, but nonexistent at the moment. Thanks again man!
TBSteve
And just when I thought I was okay, it came back again!!! What the hell am I doing wrong? I followed Gopher's videos and everything. I got a couple other mods but I don't know how I messed up :(The same problem from my first post is happening, except I cannot get out of the vault door exit in the initial start. I tried the alternative start, that freezes every time as well, and always has since I initially installed FWE. Help, anybody? prensa
TBSteve - Hello! Make sure that when you reinstalled that the multi core fix was not overwritten. Make sure also that you applied it to the .ini I mentioned, the FALLOUT.ini in Documents & not to the Fallout_default.ini in your Fallout folder.
