Upside down ash piles, what causes it?

Been working to incorporate AWOP into an install w/ WMX, EVE, MMUE, and Project Nevada. Anyone know offhand what would cause an ash pile from a crit energy blast to become inverted and lay on its "head"?

Last 3 patches are Bash w/ everything checked off, a CNR patch to clear up some names and item lists, and a slightly edited FNVedit merge patch to round everything out. With the help of Bash, the load count is only at 106 and the game runs fine otherwise (so far).
