TBDM5678
I recently got a new laptop with dual GeForce GT 750M graphics cards, and after installing Fallout New Vegas I noticed the sky flickering. This is a problem I was already aware that FO:NV had with SLI, but I was wondering if there was a patch or driver update available that would fix it. Or would I have to disable one of the cards, and if so, could I set it to be disabled for only FO:NV or do I have to switch it on and off manually through NVidia's control panel, and how would the reduced VRAM affect gameplay/mods (each card has 2 GB of VRAM)? Werne
A single GTX 750M should run NV fine. And 2GB of VRAM can mop the floor with it, pick it up, then mop the floor with it again, unless you intend to use 4096x4049 textures (and there aren't any, for an obvious reason of them being useful only on a monitor the size of a cinema screen). As for disabling SLI for a specific game, this might help, though I never used Nvidia graphics so I'm not sure if the suggestion in that thread even works. Edited August 15, 2013 by Werne
TBDM5678
Fair enough, I knew one of these cards was more than anything I ever used before, but this is the first time I've really tried goiong all out on a computer (though I was lucky enough for it to still be in my price range) so I'm a little bit in new territory now I'm trying to mess around in the nvidia control panel but I can't seem to get it to work. I tried disabling the SLI and the second GPU all together, but I still get an issue where it's one brightness when I look at the sky, and another when I look at mountains (less than a 10 degree turn, no other character movement) Edited August 15, 2013 by TBDM5678
mrchimpy732
Hi I know this thread is quite old but I found myself diving back into FO3/NV after a couple years away from the series and am quickly remembering why my memories of these two games are so fond :) I'm also posting here so that anybody who might google this problem can try my suggestion and chime in.I have a SLI laptop and when HDR was turned on, I'd get really random flickering depending on my position and camera angle relative to the in-game sun. It drove me crazy.I had read online that I had two options to fix the problem:1. Turn off HDR2. Turn off SLI Both of these options suck for obvious reasons but I elected to turn off HDR and use SweetFX & ENB to try to simulate the HDR effect. Well, when I turned on ENB with HDR turned off in-game, my sky was completely black and I read online that ENB required HDR turned on. So as an angry last ditch effort (and really just to see ENB in action), I turned HDR back on and to my surprise I'm no longer seeing the flicker issue as I once did. Has anyone noticed anything similar?
