bben46 Posted March 14, 2009 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Again, the vertical lines is most likely the video card, but it could also be the video cable or the monitor. If you can, either try your monitor and cable on another computer, or try another monitor and cable on yours. As to overheating, check your fans. Especially any mouthed on the video card itself. Clean out any dust accumulation and make sure the air channels are clear. And check to be sure your fans are not throttled back to a lower than max speed. Usually this is done to quieten you computer down. While you are in there clean out the dust that likes to accumulate in computer cases, clean any dust filters and make sure you have a clear path for air flow through the case. Also, try reseating the video card. just remove it from its slot, clean the dust out of the slot and off of the board connection, then plug it back in. Please unplug the power cord before doing any cleaning. Just turning the computer off leaves a keep alive voltage on things that can damage boards when they are unplugged while it is present.
