Solon
March 24, 2009 the Pitt will be released for download. The expansion is about a industrial raider town located on the old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although I mean no disrespect for Pittsburgh, it is not the Northwest direction I want to travel 400KM/250Mile to. If you go North East, you will hit New York city. Not a lot is know about New York in the Fallout World, it's part of the Eastern Commonwealths. The first region you come across is Staten Island and will be the first part of the mod. Area's in Progress nowWorld - SuburbanStapleVile - semi-Friendy SuperMutant Town - In progressFreeTown - The Vault 69 town, like VaultCity but on first sight only female citizens. - In progressNext in Line - Verrazano City - Slaver's, raiders.. scum of the earth and extremely fun place to be with low karma. Although we can complete this mod without any help, most of us feel that it would be much better if we get some outside help.
Rockatanskiy
This is totally not lore friendly but... Someone should base a Manhattan world space off of Escape from New York. Perhaps the enclave has been able to set up some semblance of government in the area, and it has turned new york into a police state, and has crowded all the dirty wastelanders into a walled off area of Manhattan. Outside, there could be futuristic labs and high tech stuff suitable to the enclave, and inside, it would look like DC (but in worse shape)
Gafgar Adolis
I had an idea for a mod allowing the player to visit an Enclave base on Governor's Island, but I haven't been able to make much progress on it. The GECK's too different from the Morrowind CS I'm used to using.
Solon
Well,The point is to be lore/canon friendly and it will not contain imbalanced followers, weapons or gear. Due to the relative higher number of friendly towns in the Mod (12 in Fallout 3, few of them worth the name "town" while Fallout 2 had 10 larger towns), there will be more caravans and the commonwealth will be the biggest influence. Although it's work in progress, we are running on some minor (scripting) problems and we can also use some more idea's.Any specific landmarks (exept the bridge) that should be there? Though I've encountered problems working with huge models... I can't really see where i place them...but you could do like Bethesda did and build the empire state building in parts. Gafgar Adolis
I'm going to throw in my two cents and say that the Big Apple should be all but unrecognizable, actually. While D.C. seems to have gotten off lightly (my theory being that the Enclave staged the attack on Washington to leave as much of it intact as possible while eliminating the President [thus why the White House is the only thing to have been completely demolished] and allowing them to usurp the chain of command and start the war), NYC would've been hit enough times to turn it into a glassy crater. I'd suggest making a mod set in New York have architecture more in the style of the classic Fallout games, with little to no pre-war buildings remaining and all settlements constructed after the war. Unless, of course, the Enclave kept certain structures intact, or otherwise rebuilt them...

Unless, of course, the Enclave kept certain structures intact, or otherwise rebuilt them... Excellent point. In the original Fallout, 99% of all overworld areas were barren wasteland. The southwest makes the DC "wasteland" look more like a rain forest! If we are trying to be lore friendly, I think that NY's surface should be almost totally obliterated and glassed-over. Underground would be a different story. It could have plenty of residents holed up in the complex subway stations and tunnels. Maybe they could be under constant attack from hordes of ghouls... Lastly, if doing a New York mod, you NEED to have the Statue of Liberty sticking out from the sand on the shoreline somewhere. DAMMIT! YOU BLEW IT UP, YOU BLEW IT ALL UP! Solon
Gafgar Adolis,Good point, the main island will be a waistand with on some few spots buildings sticking out. The reason we are starting with Staten Island, is due the whole suburbia vibe to it. Fallout 1 knew The Boneyard (Los Angeles) with most building destroyed or nearly destroyed (skyscrapers will not survive the Abomb). Although we only have scripts ready and are working on city's, we could move the project to any other location. Im mentioning this, because we have some small conflict about the location. Alexandria City, Virginia to Springfield, Virginia is also a big option: less landmarks, but easier to make and easier to go too. To be honest, it doesn't really matter what way we are going: are planning to make one excellent, well balanced, fun and lore/cannon friendly mod either South or North of the Fallout 3 location. If we get a decent response, we are hoping for more help and we will expend the fallout 3 location step by step, city by city. Fallout 3 just doesn't feel very big and we are missing the whole city versus city vibe fallout 2 had. It's good we have the G.E.C.K. ^^ Btw I just put Statue of liberty has been put under "NY", strange enough it wasn't there anymore.
Pax1138
Hey, whaddaya know, I'm also working on a New Yorky-area, though I'm not doing anything as expansive as you guys, just 2 world spaces in the midst of Manhattan and some underground connecting stuff. Rather like some of the downtown DC areas. But it doesn't sound like you're doing anything similar, so good luck, and have a party! -Pax
