bocharuk
Does anyone out there know how to bypass the required level for certain quests? To keep the game world rather 'low key' I level VERY slowly (I'm still level 1 after hundreds of hours of play), but this prevents certain quests from triggering. Also, it seems a lot of quests trigger 'after the Graybeards summon you...' or after doing something related to the main questline. If you use an alternate start mod and/or the 'You are not the Dragonborn' mod you get a similar problem. Any help anybody could offer would be great. Thanks in advance, bocharuk
megatronfrey
Well its up to you how do you feel about using the console commands?
TenderHooligan
There is a mod called "Timing Is Everything" that lets you set the level requirements for most (maybe all? I haven't checked to confirm but I can't see any it excludes off the top of my head) "X level is required" quests, including the DLC quests (though it also requires all three DLC to install). I absolutely love it and consider it a must-have whenever I'm roleplaying. Timing Is Everything: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38151//? Note that I am unsure how this affects "The Wolf Queen Awakened" since it requires you to to level up in-game after completing "The Man Who Cried Wolf" in the vanilla version and may not trigger even if you set the requirement to level 1. But man, hundreds of hours and still level one? I reduce my leveling speed a lot too, but your rate just seems extreme. I don't even know how your character would be able to complete all those quests at level one.
bocharuk
@mega_tron: I'm all about console commands, so no problem  @TenderHooligan: This is exactly what I want - I'll try it in a little bit. Pity about the Hearthfire requirement though. As for my play style, I have no problem with quests and the like. Whenever I get a game, I play it straight vanilla the first time (usually on the 360). Later, I get the PC version and use mods. However, the second time through I usually want to play a more heroic character, so I use the console to 'cheat'. This time around I gave myself some high skills, the perks I wanted and high stamina. I still had to reduce 'weapondamagemult' to 0.7 to make things not so easy. Even when I played Skyrim the first time on the 360 I simply didn't level up at all and I had no problem finishing the game at level 1. I'm pretty sure I finished 'The Wolf Queen Awakened' quest. I don't recall the level-up, but if there was one, I probably just reverted back to level 1 via the console anayway. Just curious TenderHooligan, what's your leveling rate? Thanks for the help. bocharuk
TenderHooligan
Yeah I actually bought Hearthfire just for the sake of this mod :/ Most of my characters are more loner/nomad or criminal types that for whatever reason would never settle down on some big estate, get married and raise a family. Even when my characters are a bit more social, they tend to make their home at whatever guild they join (companions, college). But the poor little orphan in Whiterun that keeps asking my current char to be her mother is starting to tug at my Breton's heartstrings so maybe that'll change in the future... As far as my level rate, I use the uncapper to set each skill individually, and it varies depending on the character build. Main skills are usually set around .75, secondary skills about .6 and smithing/alchemy/enchanting at .5. And the skills I don't plan on using I just cap at lv 10 so they don't provide any experience if for some reason I 'have to' use them to complete an objective. Only exception is Speech because I've wanted all my characters so far to be "smooth talkers" so that levels at the vanilla rate. And in my current play-through Block is also leveling at vanilla rate because I've never used Block before and want to try it out and I found low-level Block skill combined with my abysmal blocking skills make it useless. Even at those reduced rates my characters still tend to make it to the high 40's/low 50's in level before their journeys are complete. And when I posted about completing the game at level 1 I wasn't thinking that I also tend to use mods that assign minimal levels for certain zones so that I'm guaranteed to come across enemies that are too tough and require me to toughen up before coming back to a certain dungeon or quest. Does that mean you don't use perks since you're at level one the entire game? Now THAT does seem crazy to me. I did a pure hunter playthrough one game who never did quests, only lived off the land and whatnot and found it impossible to be effective at hunting deer/elk until I took the first level in Archery so that I could one-shot them, otherwise they'd run away before I could get a second shot in. megatronfrey
Well you can always find the names of some of the quest you want and look on Wiki and then find the ID for the quest and then you will type in:SetStage XXXXXX 0so like with the Dawnguard questline which starts at level 9 you would type in SetStage DLC1VQ01MiscObjective
bocharuk
@TenderHooligan: I'm the same way with my characters when it comes to where I live. I tend to play hunter/ranger types and I have never bought a player home in any playthrough. For my leveling I just use the console to set the 'level up base' and 'level up rate' to 10000 each (in vanilla they're 75 and 25 respectively). I figure level 2 will be as high as I want to go anyway - I'm actually getting fairly close. I didn't play with perks on the 360 playthrough, but don't underestimate the power of a high skill. Having 100 in one-handed at level 1 for instance, means you're doing quite a lot of damage at least to enemies that are on the lower end of the scale. There were a few draugr deathlords on the 360 playthrough that were a nightmare, but most enemies were quite easy at high skill level. On the PC I just give myself the perks I want, although I tend to stay away from the ones that increase attack damage - unless I need them to access another perk in the tree. Again, with the high skill levels, (not to mention non-vanilla weapons) the damage I can deal out is quite high. I've killed many a deer  @mega_tron I thought about that, but this particaulr quest is a mod and I think I need the quest to trigger before I can get the ID. I like the idea of reomoving the requirement anyway - personally, I don't think such a thing should be in a game anyway. If I want to tackle a quest that's probably too hard and get myself killed, that's my business.
