rhowington
Use low settings. Turn off shadows and use low detail. don't download any 2k textures. You should be alright.

RetroGameGuy
Why are you posting this in the mod requests section? Anyway, the only thing you can do is buy a better PC. If you have one that isnt that good you wotn be able to run skyrim well without lag and you wont be able to run it on higher settings so all you can do is upgrade your PC. DrunkRussianPain
I do plan on doing on that... if thats my last course of action to play skyrim and other games. I don't care about higher settings, Id prefer to run low/medium without lag

bben46
First, Skyrim, especially with mods, can be a PC killer. However, It can run well on a medium power PC IF you set the PC up for it.First, get rid of anything running in the background as those programs will steal CPU cycles, and you don't have the cycles to spare. Close your browser, kill off any messenger type programs, shut down VOIP, Skype and others. The game should be the only thing running when you play. Windows loves to have a lot of do nothing background programs running - and many programs think you absolutely must have there program ready to run instantly and have a keep alive background program going even if you only use that program once a month or less. There is a program that may help with this - some people swear by it while others swear at it. Game Booster - it has a free version. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/iobit_game_booster.html Then go through the suggestions on this site to tweak your game: http://www.tweakguides.com/ If you played Skyrim on your PS3 before, the PC version will boggle your mind. SeraphimKensai
*firstly, wrong forum. *secondly, not sure why your crashing, check your crash logs. (by default they are disabled, so to enable them open Skyrim.ini and add the following under [Papyrus]:bEnableLogging=1bEnableTrace=1bLoadDebugInformation=1 then when you crash if you open your skyrim folder there's a folder called logs, then scripts and in there are the logs. Papyrus.0.log is always the most recent, and at the very end you'll see what was happening when you crashed. *finally, one of the biggest things you can do to help out lag issues while at least outside is to type "TG" into the console, it disables grass from rendering thus largely reducing the graphical demand of exterior cells. I would definitely recommend though getting a decent computer or laptop that can handle the game (for instance my dell 15z which is like 3 years old handles skyrim at max graphics with me also using the 2k texture packs. it was $800 back then, so I'm sure there's plenty of reasonably priced alternatives.
