MrPudding
Just to set the record straight, I love Fallout 3 and am still enjoying it hopefully for many months to come. I am by no means bashing the game as much as it may sound. It's just some friendly satire. Fallout 3 has many things that I've wondered about ever since playing it. It wouldn't be right for me to call them unrealistic things because it is a video game with a fictional setting. But... There is mostly likely spoilers in here....you've been warned.... For instance: 1) How come Confessor Cromwell in Megaton hasn't died of radiation sickness after preaching in that irradiated puddle next to the atomic bomb for days and days on end? 2) How in the hell does your Dad travel the Super Mutant infested DC Ruins to visit Three Dog, sneak into the Jefferson Memorial and conveniently not kill a single creature just so YOU have to deal with them, and finally go halfway across the unforgiving Wasteland to Vault 112, only with a dirty vault jumpsuit, a .32 Pistol, and no medical supplies? 3) How did Stockholm get up on that that overlook in Megaton to watch out for invaders? Does he live there? When he has to go to the bathroom does he pee on Deputy Weld just to piss him off? 4) How come Fawkes doesn't come save my ass when the Enclave uses their fancy nerve paralysis grenade and haul me off to Raven Rock as a prisoner? I saved his life from an eternity of solitude for crying out loud! The least he can do to repay me is save me from the bad guys... 5) Why in the hell won't the radiation immune Fawkes go in the damn reactor and type in the access code? It's my destiny to be the one to press the button? Ha! Yeah right! I've put my life on the line on numerous occasions to bring purified water to the Wasteland and you you're telling me I don't get to live to see it happen?!?! If any of you people have noticed these kinds of questions, feel free to post them and maybe somebody will rise up and answer them because I sure as hell can't.
UnholyShadow
Hard difficulty is more my taste, but on very easy how come it takes low level characters more than one headshot to kill a raider?

If any of you people have noticed these kinds of questions, feel free to post them and maybe somebody will rise up and answer them because I sure as hell can't. Right, here I go with my answers to these mysteries. Please, don't take them too serious, I just feel like kidding around a bit. 1) Did you notice that no one besides you seems to be afraid of the radiation ? My guess is that they all have developed some kind of immunity to radiation as they were born in that world. Unlike you they have been exposed all their life to that radiation. Guess that makes Vault Dwellers a little wussy to that tiny bit of radiation. 2)Well, that one's easy. Have you ever tried to shoot your Dad ? No ? Try it. You might be as surprised as all those creatures out there who tried to stop him. He's Super-Dad. Well, just like yourself, as a Vault Dweller he's highly affected by radiation though. Figures that the only thing he dies of is the radiation in that chamber. 3)Actually I bet he wants to know that himself. If you manage to cheat your way up there he even asks you how you got up there. I guess he's just as puzzled as you are about that. 4)Fighting all those enclave soldiers with just his sledge ? Nah, he needs to arm himself with some serious firepower first. And that he does. Good choice. Good man. 5)Fawkes is a smart one. No one even knows what happens when that machine gets activated. Sure, it's supposed to clean the water. But what if it decides to blow up all around him ? After all that machine is over 20 years old, dammit. Plus the GECK he got you is even older. If I were Fawkes my reaction would be "What ? You want me to go in and push that button ? You're the one wearing the Power Armor here, Buddy !" Palpenious
Replying to the answers, and questions I guess. 1)Outsiders of the vault cannot have an immunity to radiation if for no other reason than the abundance of Rad-X, Rad-away, etc.Plus, you help Moira write a chapter in the survival guide to radiation poisoning. However, it is possible he has a higher tolerance, or just ignores the pain much like some religious fanatics take snake bites or whatever. He probably just goes to the medic's shack every night. 2)You also have to remember Daddy wasn't born in the vault, neither were you. The fact that he's marked as an essential character aside, he probably picked up a few tips on his travels, and on the way to the vault. Besides being an exceptional Doctor/Scientist, he seems to also have an almost super-human ability of persuasion. Illustrated by the fact he convinced Moriarty to help him when, "normally I would have thrown someone like that out of my bar", and the way he gets all these scientists to help assist in a long dormant project that he himself walked away from twenty years ago. 3)He has a grappling hook, and a can. 4&5) If you can't handle it, neither can he. There's my take on it
Michlo
why has this bin reported? Because it included spoilers and wasn't posted in the spoilers section perhaps?
dthvirus
1. There's a good point. Who knows. It is heavily implied that religion/intense study can overcome the effects of mutation, evident in Fawkes (who stays sane by using a terminal) and Uncle Leo (who cites Zen Buddhism as a way to retain sanity after becoming a mutant) 2. I spoke to Star Paladin Cross and she mentioned that she 'had the honour of escorting James to Megaton'. James evidently has friends in high places, and most likely took an Brotherhood of Steel escort. 3. He can climb, unlike the player character. 4. Fawkes isn't about to walk right into a fireteam of Enclave troopers. It looks like there were only two with Col. Autumn, but they must have had a sizeable force going into Vault 87, as the place is heavily defended. 5. This point has been debated ad nauseam. The generally accepted answer is that Besthesda can't end storylines properly.
