hackeysack
I duplicate the original bat, then copy paste the nails over it. the picture with the nails in it, is a Nif i exported from 3dsmax, (but it wont work unless you replace a vanilla item eg. the bat)The only way I know to get a custom model into fallout is by cutting and pasting onto a vanilla item (reason you have to do this is so you get the bats animations, data, etc) I've actually made 2 nailbats before this successfully, but this time when I tried, its not actually duplicating the vanilla bat. neunen
the only thing i think we still need vanilla nifs for is the collision data, but i could be wrong. ok i see, hmm im not sure why that wouldnt work... once you import the nails but before you copy and paste them over the bat, are you stripifying/ setting the tspace flag/updating the tangent space? also are you copying/pasting the entire nitrisrips branch, or just the nitristripsdata? i dont know if ive ever had success pasting an entire branch over. hackeysack
-I'm just copying/pasting the nitristripsdata. but I haven't been stripifying/setting the tspace flag/updating the tangent space. (I never needed to before)has that worked for you?? Ill cross my fingers hopefully that will work, I doubt it tho.
hackeysack
do I stripify/ tspace flag/update tangent space in Nifscopeor should I do that in 3dmax? should i stripify the vanilla bat?or should I stripify my custom mesh?
neunen
if the vanilla bat is a nitrishape instead of a nitristrips then you might not need to stripify anything, but most of the weapons ive looked at have been nitristrips so you have to stripify the new parts so they will paste over correctly you never know (although it would seem strange if you didnt need it in the past) try this:-open bat nif-copy branch nitristips of original bat and paste branch into main node-click on main node and then file, import nail mesh-right click nail ntrishape (if its a shape) and stripify-click on nails nitristripsdata and look in the inspector, change tspace flags to 16-click on spells>update all tangent spaces-copy nails nitristripsdata-right click on nails nitristrips and remove branch-open 2nd bats nitristrips-right click on its nitristripsdata and paste over
hackeysack
All of a sudden, I can paste the nails in again, but they are way off this time, so much that I can't edit the Z Y X axises. I'm starting to think somethings corrupted in Nifscope,3Dsmax, or the BSA files, I probably have to reinstall everything.Or maybe, I'm not exporting from 3dsmax right anymore.
