Ripley92 Posted December 16, 2021 Share Posted December 16, 2021 I recently started playing Skyrim again for the first time in a couple years and upgraded to the anniversary edition. Just an hour or so ago, after accumulating roughly 75 hours of gameplay on my character, the game abruptly froze during the mission "The Cure for Madness" when I exited the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and Shadowmere started to emerge from the black pool just outside. Thinking that it may have had something to do with my mods (Convenient Horses in particular, I had Frost right next to the entrance at the time) I tried loading the same point again with Frost a considerable distance away. Again, the game abruptly froze. Thinking that maybe the issue was that Frost is a unique horse, I tried purchasing a common horse and progressing to the same point. That didn't work either. Seeing as how I don't know of any way to "deactivate" a horse without "activating" another one as the active horse, I'm at a bit of a loss, so I figured I'd seek some assistance. I'd really like to not have to start a whole new character after over 70 hours of gameplay, so any help would be greatly appreciated. My mod list is quite extensive. The load order is the exact same as seen in the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssXr9bbXh8Q&t=658s I also have the Creation Club content from the Anniversary edition, but I only recently installed it all mid-playthrough after mistakenly believing it to be downloaded and active since the beginning, which could also be the issue but I'm really hoping it's not. Hannibal139 Posted December 16, 2021 Share Posted December 16, 2021 Could be something that replaces or edits the mesh file of shadowmere or could be a broken scripted event idk. Anyway i won't be much of a help but i do know a way round to get rid of horses in skyrim lol. Just straight murder them in cold blood but do not kill frost since he is unique and all just buy a common horse first and ride it to get rid of frost and then kill that common horse to get rid of it as well but avoid killing it in the presence of npcs otherwise it may put a bounty on your head tho i am not totally sure.
