russader
Okay I have read a couple places where you guys have talked about using save game facial data to create NPCs. I was wonder if anyone could refer me to where I can learn how to do it? Thank yourussader
Sangel2525
Okay first download and install Wrye Bash. Once installed and running right click whatever mod you want to add a face for. It'll come up with a few options. Scroll down to Import, and select Face. Then choose the saved game with the face you want, and it will import the face into the esp. You can then in the CS copy and paste the face to whatever NPC you wish. Do note if you're running hair, eye, race mods etc for the face in question, make sure the esp supports them or they won't show up.
Frodric
I've always wanted to give this a go for a specific NPC or two. Think I'll try the Anvil gang. Any way to mod thier outfits outside of the CS?
Sangel2525
I've always wanted to give this a go for a specific NPC or two. Think I'll try the Anvil gang. Any way to mod thier outfits outside of the CS? No, not in a practical sense. You would need to modify their outfits within the CS, meaning you would need to import the face to an esp that supports said outfits. However if you're brazen though I don't recommend doing this lightly, you can convert an esp to an esm with Wyre Bash. So for example if you are running custom hair mod on a vanilla race, you could convert the hair mod to an esm. Then import the face into the clothing mod with the outfits you want. In the CS you would have to check off both the custom hair esm, as well as the Oblivion esm, then your face would show up fine, and you could apply the clothing to the NPC you apply the face to via the CS. I do caution about taking this route as creating a new esm can sometimes lead to strange conflicts, and CTD's. Other times it works fine though. If you're feeling experimental I would suggest backing up your Data directory before proceeding with anything like this. A safer way to do this, albeit more work will be required. Is to manually add meshes and textures for say a hair mod into an existing clothing mod, and then import your face into that mod, and you can work off that mod alone to modify the NPC's. There's a lot of ways to do it, and I would only really say try the esm route if you're using a custom race. Making the custom race an esm.
