fiddleflap
I have been working on a settlement at Abernathy Farm, but have found if I place vendors in the red highlighted area shown in the screenshot below they just say “huh? (or just give other generic responses)” and refuse to trade or sell: I suspect I am out of luck with this but wondered if anyone else has encountered this and knows of a mod or has a fix for this? Vendors will work if I move them out of the highlighted red area, but as the settlement is pretty much complete was hoping there might be a workaround without having to redesign it. Papajack55
I have had a couple of things that were off. When I bought the lights and caravan stop and set them up, the caravan stop(disappeared but the lights stayed in the air). Weird, but whatâs gonna happen next?â¦.lol
LarannKiar
It's because the build area of some settlements are bigger than their Location. Settlement locations are "Workshop Locations" (see Location >> Keywords and Encounter Zone >> "Workshop" flag). Settlers can say vendor voice lines only at workshop locations. See: WorkshopVendorGreetingsGeneric (quest) >> Mist (tab) >> Greeting (topic) >> Topic Groups >> see Condition LocationHasKeyword "LocTypeWorkshop" == 1. Other Conditions such as the LocationHasPlayerOwnedWorkshop and the LocationHasKeyword "LocTypeWorkshopSettlement" also return False at these areas. By the way, this is why you can't build some objects in these areas (i.e. Bell (000C01D2), Brahmin Feed Trough (00114A6C)). Papajack55
I expanded my build area 5 timesâ¦Would that still cause the problem?
LarannKiar
I expanded my build area 5 timesâ¦Would that still cause the problem? You need to make sure the build area is within the Location of the settlement. Open AbernathyFarmLocation (Location) >> Cells (tab) >> You can see the Cells of the Location, Abernathy Farm. Make sure the build area is within the Cells. (You can also add new Cells for Abernathy Farm). (If the build area is within the Cells, then it's also covered by the Location that's made of the Cells. And if the build area is within the Location, Settlers can say their vendor lines).

Many thanks for this, I added the cells the vendors were in to the AbernathyFarmLocation and can now trade and purchase items from them. Thanks again!
