dammskog
I have just ordered a 250 gb ssd can I move the installed and modded versions of Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim to the SSD without any issues if I adjust the drive locations in NMM or do I need to do a clean install? pkleiss
Aside from editing INI path settings, there are many registry setting you'd have to change too. I haven't looked specifically for Fallout 3, but often times some of these registry entries are embedded in hex - making it virtually impossible to move stuff around like you want to. Unless you are an expert with Windows registry, I would perform clean installs and just copy my \data folder structure over once complete. If you are adding the HD and keeping your C: drive intact, your saves should not be affected.
smellytoes
If you want to move the installer over to like a different drive, it requires more work like pkleiss said. 1. You could just uninstall Fallout 3, Skyrim etc... leave the game folder, directory folders (data/meshes data/textures etc...) and plugins. Use an archive utility like WinRaR and compress it to an archive and move it. or... 2. At the worst it might be painstaking to just do a fresh reinstall of the game and mods onto the SSD. Keep your saves and Use FOMM > Tools/Save Games. You can highlight your save games and it will list all the mods used in them to save you the burden of CTD.
