Talonflight
You know what i realized Oblivion needs? a Rival. At, say level 10, tales of your deeds start to become known, and a certain figure decides to hunt you. Wouldnt it be cool? He'd be the same class as whatever you pick for your own, have exactly the same stats as you, but he hates you and hunts you across Cyrodiil. Every time you kill him, he teleports out, until you reach level 20(or 50, i have no idea, it could depend on personal preference) and he summons you for a final battle! He could have his own fame and infamy rankings, and act as sort of a Radiant AI (or something close to it). His own deeds and fame would reflect what alignment the game thinks YOU are trying to go for, and have HIM attempt it. If you are the kind who wanders into Weye and kills the town inhabitants, he could march into Old Bridge and kill a few NPC's (un-quest related). If you join the Arena, he could show up on the yellow team (but teleport out before he dies). Should you attempt the Main Quest, he could pop up at various times and demand a duel for the right to perform certain actions. If you join the Dark Brotherhood, he could join the "Morag Tong", and hunt other un-useful NPC's (an idea i had for this version could be an event where he and you race to see who can kill the most people, first to 10 wins?). Join the Thieves Guild, and he'll become a rogue pickpocket. Join the Mages Guild, and he joins the Necromancers. Join the Fighters Guild and he'd become a Black Bow Bandit. The possibilities could be endless. He'd be working his way up the ranks at the same time you did. Do more than one, and so will he. He could plant notes leading you to traps, but sometimes to treasure, and also alert certain enemies to your presence, could occasionally aid you if your goals coincide. He could be an ally or an enemy, depending on the situation but will also often ask you to compete with them in decidedly not-friendly combat. He could even stalk you to the Realm of Oblivion, and you two fight each other in a race against time to see which of you should be the one to close the gate of oblivion. Perhaps most importantly, there could be a hidden route that allows you to make him understand you dont want to be rivals, and somehow add him (or her) as a companion. I was (very briefly) considering developing this mod myself, however, i dont have the time or resources, nor the faintest clue on how to make mods. I cant even use the Construction Set, it gets complicated. SO, i am putting this idea out there, for anyone who could possibly take up the effort to make it. ChrisC30
This sounds very interesting. It also sounds like there'd be a lot of scripting involved. But I'd like to see this mod get made. And, it'd be funny if he/she somewhat resembled the Adoring Fan. For instance, this rival person appears after you either reject the Fan, or kill him, or he dies in battle helping you, and the rival blames you for it all, swearing revenge. Actually, that could be the determining factor of whether or not the rival becomes an ally or enemy, based on how you treat the Adoring Fan. Or you could base the rival's behavior on another existing NPC.
Talonflight
Iunno about THAT (had thought it would have a more serious tone), though it would be amusing with that hair xD
