How do I make armor using vanilla meshes?

I'm trying to figure out how to make a tweaked version of T-45d Power Armor by adding and removing some parts but I haven't got the slightest clue as how to do so. If someone could please give me some advice and/or instructions it would be much appreciated

You can do some simple changes in NifSkope. If the part you want to add or remove is a separate NiTriStrips or NiTriShapes node, you can use the Block -> Remove Branch / Copy Branch / Paste Branch commands. For example, you can make almost any outfit sleeveless by using Remove Branch on the sleeves, and using Copy Branch and Paste Branch to copy the arms from another outfit that has the arms exposed.

 

However, most of the time the part you want to change is just one section of the complete NiTriStrips or NiTriShapes node, and then you need to use Blender. That's way more than can be explained in a forum post, but there are plenty of tutorials out there if you google it.
