Morgwynn
As fun as it is playing a pointy eared alien with yellow/black polka dot eyes or just plane cataract/white eyes how about humans with elf ears? . . make them look more like elves from lord of the rings the movie not the cartoon or like the human looking elves. I know there are tons of elven face mods out there but for one reason or another my NMM can't get them to work. I'm talking Legolas type elves that don't look to strange. Hey don't get me wrong drizzt do'urden from AD&D was one of my favourite npc characters for a dark elf but it's so hard to make a drizzt do'urden type character that actually or a Legolas character type. Rennn
Elves have been angular and vaccum-faced since Morrowind in TES. Oblivion stuck to a very primitive mesh system that only allowed simple changes to the basic cloned mesh, which is why it had "Tolkien" elves. According to lore, they're supposed to be like Skyrim's. I'm not saying that your request isn't a good idea, only that the term "real elves" isn't accurate. There are already several mods to make elves look more human. If NMM doesn't work, install them manually.
Morgwynn
I suppose " Real Elves " was a bad choice of words since Santa's little helpers are thought of as elves as well even though they had more in common with fairy's like Dobby the house elf from Harry Potter. I'm a bit more partial to the elves from Norse mythology and Tolkien stories. The elves from AD&D were a cross between the two not really fairy folk but with abilities similar to fairy folk but nearly as tall as humans. I had like 5 or 6 elven facial mods going at once and I figured that one or two of them was incompatible with the others so I ran a TES5Edit scan so see if there were conflicting mods and didn't find anything so I undated my NMM to 0.45.6 because I thought maybe an outdated NMM might have been the problem but that never helped either. So I manually deleted all the elven face mods and deleted the whole game and reinstalled Skyrim + addons again and this time only installed 1 elven face mod that didn't need any requirements and it still never worked . . . talk about frustrating sometimes I think I spend more time trying to get mods to work properly than I do actually playing the game Lol.
