I open the game and try to start a new game. It goes through load screen. I get a black screen and game crashes.

That's quite a common problem. The intro is heavily scripted and quite demanding on system ressources. Simply put, the game engine already has a lot to do during the intro. If you have a large load order (like yours) with big new lands mods, heavily scripted stuff etc. on top, the game simply can't handle things any more.

 

There are two possible solutions:

 

1. You can try to disable mods until the intro plays again. You would start with the largest and most script heavy mods. Could be a long and tedious process.

 

2. Don't play the intro. Use Alternate Start for a new character. In fact, that's what a lot of people with large load orders (including myself) do. If your game runs stable otherwise, I'd simply leave your load order as is and use Alternate Start.

Ok, thanks. I didn't even think about all the scripts in the intro. I wasn't thinking about alt start either. There's still a problem with a couple of my mods though. I'll have to go through them.
