Classic Fallout View Mod

This will most likely be a long post so please bear with me.

 

 

 

I started out on classic fallout and loved the overhead view. I was excited when Bethesda took this into the 3D world but wasn't so keen on the FPS aspects. It works but I kind of like the way VATS works in this game now rather than the FPS gameplay.

 

 

So i thought why not make a mod for the old school fans that addresses this issue.

 

 

I have a little bit of an idea how i think it could work but without having access to a PC right now and Fallout 4 I can't test this or even know where to start.

 

 

First off, I don't want to ADD anything like models or sounds to this. It will simply be using all the existing assets in the game.

 

 

Ok so what i'd like to see is this..

 

 

- Change the player view to be the "overhead" view. Basically the players main view would be locked in place to the "unit" you are controlling. This "unit" would "represent" your main character. This would represent the world more as like a strategy game view.

 

 

- Your character would basically get Duplicated upon creation as a NPC. This means it would spawn duplicate models of you and your character.

 

- your newly created "clone" would represent YOU and would follow all of your commands such as (move, attack, interact etc) So you can click on the ground somewhere and a "move" command would be shown for this NPC/Main character and they would move there and so on.

 

- When your "clone" is attacked it would damage you up in the sky (Remember your actual player is the camera now) so when that character dies you die.

 

- I'm not sure if it's possible for the perk system with this though. Can you add perks to NPCS? IF so then you would have to duplicate this to match your character when you level up.

 

- So when you attack or are Attacked it would trigger VATS and this is how it would play out. Enemies WOULD not attack your character in the sky because he would be invisible. What i mean by this, is that only your "clone" would be visible and it would appear as a NPC such as a squad member or something to the AI. The AI would NEVER actually see you, but if they kill your player it would kill you.

 

- When your "Clone player" picks up an item in the world, it will transfer to your inventory but be also in their inventory. Or maybe the item can be transferred to you and then back. Anyhow whatever you wear or equip your "clone" would equip as well.

 

- When you go into BUILD mode for colony managment it would simply revert to your original view and everything would work as usual. Your "clone" would just hang out in one spot and do nothing where ever you leave him or her while you build. Once you are done building it will go back into "overhead" view and you'll resume the game.

 

 

- For fun you can also disable VATS and just play it overhead in real-time while your "Clone" uses auto-aim or something.

 

 

Ok so it would sort of be like this. And from here you could really go to town and even replace character models and assets to reflect classic fallout more.

 

 

I'm not sure how this would affect the ending of the game or cinematics but i'm sure you could work this out.

 

Anyhow If nobody is going to try to make this, then I will when i get the time.
