Crim, The Red Thunder
I got a beef to go along with all this: LOUSY CRAPPY PIECE-OF-poo MAGIC SYSTEM! Spells cost to much, are too slow, and magic limits are way too low (you can't get enough magicka). The restore magicka potions are usless at high levels without some extreme cheating to enhance your intelligence to the high-millions. That said, i can suggest mods which fix some problems listed here (recently found ones.) Magical trinkets of tamriel will provide some constant restore magicka. (But there's a price to power, as they say. In this case, you must give up the use of something, until the thread is removed.)Magical trinkets is also good for fighter types, since there are plenty of other things that can be done. Take the armorstone (VERY RARE!!! 100 luck, and i havent seen one after clearing 10 bandit caves, one had 57 bandit type crates in it...) which adds a full set of bound armor. Might want to be careful with mods changing or adding items to the leveled crate/chest/barrel/whatever_smuggler/bandit_01 lists. With 100 luck, you get almost all trinkets, so my Farrp weapons wont show up much anymore. But then, with a mid-range luck it is balanced. So no real problem. There's a mod i saw on morrowind summit that increases the speed a 'cast at target' spell (to lazy for hypens) moves through the air, which means you can't dodge as well. Another improves archer and target magic users AI so that they would aim better, preventing some dodge bugs. (If you are moving left, the spell is cast at where you will be IF you keep moving. IF the moment the spell is cast, you are moving right, and turn left, it will miss. EVERY time. Ditto for arrows, but you have to be faster to dodge them.) Another alters the way spell creation works to make it based on your abilities and stats, so you can make spells cheaper, or more expensive then those of the mages you buy them from. (Goes well with Tome of Ancient Knowledge)Yet another removes the caps on spells, so now damage can go to 9999. Increases endurance costs, and recalculates the difficultly of a spell to be cast. I don't remember the names of these, and some of them are 56k user beware. So i don't have any besides Magical trinkets of tamriel, yet. However, these are good mods, and solve SOME of my problems. I can't imagine how i ever got anywhere with my all-raw-mage characters... 100 in destruction means jack-squat with only 100 magicka......... Also good is "Ultimate weapons" which adds some REAL good staff weapons which have all magic based damage, one for each element, as well as some items which have CE fortify magicka multiplier effects on them. (One adds a 3.0 or even 4.0 effect!!!!! in addition to what you already havE!!!! Yes, those effects STACK! That's how my nord got 798 magicka!!!!!! Ninja: Ooh-la-la, i am wearing my love affair (shows off SO's ring)... ( :help: me please, my mind is slipping away!!!!!!!)
NinjaSalad
I find the switching between magic and fighting sucks! If you getting hit repetedly you have a hard time pulling out your weapon, also the casting of magic sucks, looks really bad and slow.
Crim, The Red Thunder
Here;s another beef. Speell sorting is REAL hard. I kinda like to have every spell in the game,( being as i am a perfectinist) but when you have some 400 spells in you rlist not counting enchanted itemsand spelkls that you personally made, things can be real hard to sort. Can someone make a mod that allows spells to be sorted, or for that matter, renamed after we make them? (Or allow us to reenchant an item without overwriting? A cast on strike from early game, would allow you to do maybe3 damage with a charge meter of 10. Then, after our skill shave improved, reenchant the item, to increase it's existing enchantment, and itsstill balanced since the item wont deo danythign more then normal, the old enchntment is still there, you just donnt have to pay for it again, at least not as much, and you can attach a new one, and rename the item! This isn;t entirely iumpossible, just difficult. And meters could go beyond 400. As is, noone wants to use the vivec or almalexia (warrior) souls for anything but cast on strike, when the soul could just as easily be loosed from azura's star to make a CE item, or some sort of armor. Also a big problem is the INCREDIBLE SLOWNESS of the enchant menu. FASTER PLEASE!!!! my PC is moving so slow now, im exceedint eh buffer. I have a solution to your problem NS, just give me a bit to reboot and see if i cna fix this.
Dilvish
Now I've found Morrowind sites saying that the unarmored skill doesn't work either unless the character is wearing at least 1 piece of armor. I need a way to confirm this with out letting my character die too many more times. The Death by Kagouti Test Character with unarmored skill at 58. Light armor skill is at 7. Absolutely no armor (character AR shows 21) = death in 2 hits Wearing Clovian fur hat (AR shows 19) = death in 5.8 hits (5 repeats at each condition and results averaged) Conclusion: Unarmored doesn't work as advertised. Wear at least 1 piece of armour on your unarmored characters!
Crim, The Red Thunder
Secondary observation: The weight affects how much your unarmored AC is subtracted for wearing armor. In this case, a weight of 2 causes a loss of 4 points, evened out by the +2 of the hat itself. (Well, no, technically, you arent getting the full 2 points. I'd say you are losing 3 points of unarmored AC for every 2. I will work on a formula for this.)Therefore, what if we try using a *weightless* item for the piece of armor? I can name a couple in mods, but it might take some searching first. This might be worth trying, cause i lost way more of a percentage when i wear a single medium-armor cuirass with my unarmored skill. (The medium armor cuirass gave 40. I ended up with 10, as opposed to approximately 25 with the unarmored.) Keeping in mind that some of that 10 are unarmored points, the weight probably makes a difference. Anyone wanna do this? (My MW copy is acting up at the moment, so im giving it a short rest.) Oh and NS: I found something that MIGHT be of interest. (If speed is the big issue, enchant all the spells you want to use. Exquisite rings are best (120 points of enchantment, and they only weigh 0.1 each!) for this. Then there is no charge time. But the number of uses is semi-limited.)Anyway, here: http://www.euro-rpg.com/index.php?section=...code=05&id=3545 Okay, so it's not exactly what you wanted, but it does improve sound of magic spells! There may be some slight texture differences, but no real problems. Furthermore, there IS another mod, i just cant find it, that replaces the animations for magic. And before anyone else here suggests something, searching MWSummit does LOADS of good, for some things. For others it sucks. This holds true for MANY sites offering large quantities of mods. However, i can honestly recommend this site to anyone. http://www.mwmythicmods.com/telesphoros.htm List of mods, with Well-written descriptions by the player, rather then some snooty programmor who thinks we dont understand english. (No offense, anyone.) Concisely describes whats in the mod, and in some cases, what it conflicts with, and how. REAL good. That's where some of the ones i recommended in here came from. REAL good site.
Abramul
Spell sorting is hard? Yes, but enchantment sorting is worse! Sometimes, my game shows all my enchanted items in alphabetical order, sometimes it shows them ordered by item type! If it's in alphabetical order, my CE shirt, pants(although not as likely) and boots can be replaced if I cycle through my spells. Is there a way to tie it down to one method? Crim, The Red Thunder
LEt me rephrase. Hard? No. Impossible? YES! What do you mean they are sorted in different ways? To my knowledge, there is NO way to sort spells! They are always alphabetical. As for the enchantments, they are done the same, but alphabetically, there is some type-sorting involved. Amulet of 'A', Amulet of 'B', amulet of 'c' etc...Are you sure you didnt just get confused?
Abramul
I mean that if I have, say, Abramul's Ring of Healing, and Abramul's Amulet of Flight, sometimes they will show up together at the top of the enchantment section, and sometimes one would be with enchanted rings, and the other would be with enchanted amulets. The only method of SPELL sorting that I know of, though, is to buy spells, and name them to fit whatever scheme you want....Say, instead of the Mark, Recall, Almsivi and Divine travel spells, you give them all names like Travel---Mark, Travel---Divine, and the like. I guess you could do the same thing through a plugin, too.
Crim, The Red Thunder
There's SUPPOSEDLY (i don't know where, and believe me IVE LOOKED!!!!!) a mod out there where you can use a misc item to activate a sorting system, and manually rearrange your spells. There's another one where you can keep only 20 spells in your list at a time, and you can swap out which 20 at any town. (Later versions used a misc item.) If anyone knows where to find such a spell-sort mod, please put it here. I know the first one exists somewhere, but i cant find it.
Malchik
I'm not sure if it's what you want but there is a mod called EBJ Spell Organiser by Moving Target over at Morrowind Summit. You can search on their mod database, one of the biggest. It's always a good idea to check the main mod sites (Thelys, Gamer's Roam etc.). You'd probably get a quicker answer than waiting for someone to answer it here!
