Ranokoa Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 You know how there are moving walls and stuff that when you press a switch they will slide up or down or whatever to expose the secret passage behind them, like in castles. Well, i want someone to make a moving bookshelf that slides its entire length to the left or right. I don't care which direction as the mod im working on the part that needs this is not completely developed and can cope with either direction. Specifically what im asking for is to take a bookshelf from the upperclass that has a the smallest amount of shelves on it from the Static folder. Take that and look at other moving walls for secret areas to see how they work or even copy certain things in it. Put those and apply them to the bookshelf to move left when its parent is activated, whether it be a turn handle or a daisy chain. Also making able to be daisy chained would be awesome. I know this is not exactly a simple request, and i know it takes not only knowing your way probably around blender, animation and nifscope but some scripting too. But if this can be done it would be so appreciated. I will give full credit and recognition in the description, readme and even the ingame readme book as well as a link to your profile for people to see what else you have. (If you already know how to do this, dont read below) I do not know how to do this kind of stuff, but i am very skilled in disecting processes. My suggestions, be they accurate or completely useless, to doing this: Find and extract the nif file for the upperclass bookshelf.Find and extract some moving, animated wall that exposes a secret passage like alyeid ruins or castles.Study the file of the moving wall to find what makes it move and how that is started.Study and copy the script to make it move when its parent is activated or daisychained.Either replace the physical object of the moving wall in nifscope with the bookshelf, and change the direction the animation wants to move it to either left or right from up or down.(Preferrably left, if somehow you can make it do both but be scripted to choose so just a simple change in the script will determine its path would be flippin awesome) test it to see if it works, and try to make it so it only moves its entire length. In otherwords, for as much space as it takes on the ground is as much as it moves, so it stops moving where the otherside began. (hopefully that makes sense) Im not sure if this will work but i believe it will be close to accurate to help make this. But again, i have no experience in this. The entire furiniture static that holds books to go left or right so expose a secret whatever behind it.You might be able to do this by just replacing the mesh from an existing activator that moves in this way with the mesh of a bookshelf since the animations usually just move a node that a mesh can be attached to. However, it is very unlikely that you will be able to put anything on that shelf without it shooting off the moment the shelf were to move. So you may need to rethink that aspect. Well, not to shoot everywhere but i want the bookshelf to be empty anyways. If it were possible to put stuff on it without them shootin id still have it be empty. I do not know my way around nifscope enough at ALL. So... i cant do this. But if someone else can do what vagrant said that would be awesome.
