Odd Settings Problems

First let me say that my system has run oblivion at these settings before with no problem what so ever.

 

1. I enter the game and change all setting to max.

 

2. I open the console and type saveini.

 

3. I exit the game then restart oblivion.

 

4. When I enter the game all appears to be fine for about three seconds then distant terrain vanishes.

 

5. The specular distance changes to a lower setting along the slider. (Note that this is the only setting that changes.)

 

I have already tried deleting my oblivion.ini but I still get the same problem.

do you use Streamline 3.1 ? I did because it was very helpful, but for an unknown reason it kept reversing my settings to lower ones without putting them back as it should do normally...

Yes indeed I do, let me check and see if that's the problem.

Edit: That was the problem, changed to streamline 2.1 and the problem went away.
