Crim, The Red Thunder
Wren brings her head down from the sail, and wonders if the sail would work without a cloth patch to be sewn over it...She wanders around the ship, wondering how strong a force we would be facing. *Waits for sail to be fixed*
Eiade
"Well don't just stand there and wait for someone else to do it!" Said Tylen. "Let's fix this thing!" Tylen pulled a over barrel to stand on, and he and Harver did most of poking holes in the sail and using twine to mend the sail. About half-an-hour later, the sail was somewhat fixed, although they would never be able to go as fast as they once were. The party got to sailing, traveling at about two-thirds speed. Once the Hla Oad came into view, it was around 11 or so, and Tylen told Waylas to go out a bit. "Everyone look out into the sea! Look for the Hlaalu boat!" tyjet3
Daric watched as the sail was put up by the group, as he thought of the chances of their success. It was getting harder and harder by the second. Once the ship's sail was repaired the group spread out along the ship. Hla Oad's shoreline came in to view. At this point Daric and Isaac were looking over to the west, checking for any sign of a ship. Tylen commented something to Waylas and the ship turned north western. Tylen then commanded everyone to look for the ship. Everyone got on the left side of the boat and starred in to the misty sea. The fog was really strong right now. Vallrey climbed on top of the cabin and continued to look. His Bosmer eyes were the keenest here.Vallrey looked over to the north western sea, while Isaac looked south western. Tylen and everyone else look straight west. The silky fog wasn't getting any clearer. Daric was starting to lose hope. Just then, Isaac yelled out. "There! A boat!"Surely enough, a larger skimmer was on the horizon, coming ever closer to Vvardenfell."I see Hlaalu markings on it!" Said Vallrey."Captain!" Shouted Daric. "Go to that ship!" Waylas and Jaline turned the rudder and the sails, and the boat was off in a new direction towards the Hlaalu ship. The two ships stopped along side one another. The Hlaalu ship's guards were lining the side facing the party's ship, armed and ready, in case they were pirates. Tylen came forward and told them of his membership and rank in House Hlaalu, and they relaxed. The party told the members of the shipment boat what was about to happen, and the Hlaalu listened, stunned and astonished. Waylas and Jaline, with the cooperation of the Hlaalu ship crew, tied the two boats together with thick ropes. Tylen called the party to gather for a 'huddle.'"We have two choices," he said. "We can either board their ship and try to fend off the attack, or we can tell them to steer way clear of Hla Oad, and dock somewhere else, avoiding the Indoril completely. What do you guys think?" FlightlessBird
"I hope to Vivev We're not too late..." Isaac said as he squinted through the fog. He couldnt see much and didnt want to assume that t one of those ships was the one they were looking for. For two reasons, assuming was bad ( :P ) and he didnt want to be too late, even if they were. Isaac picked up his staff as his wants receeded to reality. "What do you guys think?" He asked.
Crim, The Red Thunder
"I vote we board the ship and fight! The Indoril must pay for this! Unfortunately, we cannot afford to put the Hlaalu at risk. Is it possible to get a decoy of some sort? If not, let's send them on their way to stop the docking at Hla Oad, and give them an escort to boot. I mean, if they dont go to Hla Oad, AND they have a guard, that's an even greater protection."Wren looks questioningly at everyone else, wondering what they might think of this. Harver
:: Harver scratched the back of his head in thought, a gesture that made him look so much like the farmer he was.:: I think we should avoid confrontation as much as possible. We won't be doing much to make them pay if we take out the members performing the operation. If they were able to put something together like this then I'm willing to bet they have far more people than they devoted to this operation. They wouldn't be "paying" too much if they lost. :: Harver sighed:: We also don't want to risk a confrontation. We might have to upper hand but we also don't know how many they'll have or how well they're armed. They know everything about us except that we know about their operation. We know next to nothing about them. I think its an unnecessary risk. :: Harver then shrugged:: But what do I know? I'm just a farmer.
Fishystick
"I say that if we made it all the way here, we get on board that ship and if the Indoril does attack, try our best to fend them off", said Vallréy and looked around again. "But.. if we do get attacked, they might outnumber us by quite a few, that would probably lead to a very sorry ending for the most of us..", he said and looked again. Crim, The Red Thunder
Wren shakes her head, and wonders. "Sorry. I guess im a bit hot-tempered, but i thought we should have at least stopped this attack... what if it's the same people doing more then one of the items on the list? IF we stop them here, we don't have to meet them later... but Vallrey is right. The potential for loss of life is to high. I retract my vote." Wren smiles at the group in apology. Eiade
OOC: My computer is now up and running. Yay. AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor! w00t! IC: "Hmm... I too will vote to steer the boat away from the Indoril," said Tylen. "This is in all ways the best plan." Now that the majority of the party was in favor of avoiding a fight, they went into action. They took away the ropes that were connecting the boats, and intended to have the boat move way out away from the coast (southwest), then escort the Hlaalu shipment to Vivec, where it was headed. The boats were traveling together, and Waylas went to the back of his skimmer to fetch something, then he saw something. "There's another another boat!" He yelled. The entire party gathered to the back and looked out, as did the Hlaalu when they also heard this. Indeed there was another boat, coming from the coast, moving quickly and catching up with them. They had spent too much time talking to the Hlaalu. The Indoril boat now saw that there were two boats. "This is NOT my affair," said the captain firmly. "And I will NOT risk my ship for your mission." With that he turned his skimmer in toward the Hlaalu shipment, and made the party board the other boat, wishing them good luck. Then Waylas the Jaline took off and headed back to Suran. Tylen ran up to the captain of the Hlaalu boat. "We must turn for the coast," said Tylen. "The farther we go out, the more we'll have to swim if this boat sinks." The captain agreed and did a turn so that they were now going straight towards the Seyda Neen area. The Indoril were now within 150 yards from the boat, and commenced their attack. They fired arrows at a high angle so that they could hit the shipment. The arrows were fire arrows, with oil-soaked cloth wrapped around the tip, or twisted flax soaked in tallow. The arrows came down upon the back of the boat, and threatened to catch fire to the entire ship.
FlightlessBird
Isaac was dismayed at the volly of fire arrows. They could burn and sink the ship before they even got anywhere near it. Thinking logically, The best course of action would be two choices. They could try to sail as fast as they could to get out of the range of the fire arrows, as the fog was still thick and they might lose them. Or, this was more risky but they wouldnt have to worry about long range arrows, they could slow down and let the ship catch up, thus being too close to fire arrows. Unfortuantly, the group would have to engage in melee combat, which would destroy the passive idea they hoped to achieve. Isaac told the group his ideas, while running towards the flaming arrows loged into the deck of the ship and putting them out with by smothering them with his boots.
