War of the Grand Council: The Lost Documents

OOC: I have returned! The Indoril wear what any other house members wear: the armor that suits them best, be it netch leather, bonemold, steel, chitin, or none. Indoril Armor has special sentimental value to the Dunmer, being named and designed after one of their greatest heroes: Indoril Nerevar. The Indoril Armor is worn only by Ordinators, and as to whether or not high-ranking Indoril members would where it, I do not know. All I know is that on Vvardenfell, only Ordinators wear it, and it is a very serious offense for anyone else to do so, so that probably also applies to the mainland of Morrowind. Just because it has the name Indoril in it doesn't necessarily mean the armor belongs to House Indoril. I'll do more research on the subject and get back to you on that one. And I'm very excited that you want to get your hands deep into the RP.

IC:

"Yes, we could do something to the wine to make it spoil," said Tylen, his rubbing the stubble that had begun to creep on his face. "Maybe capture a few insects or small rats, maybe even kwama foragers and drop them in the barrels." When Tylen heard the words come out of his mouth, he didn't think it sounded like a good idea, and grimaced.

"I don't know," he said. "Something like that." He let his remark hang in the air, and looked down at the ground as he began brainstorming.

He sat down on a barrel, pulled out a waterskin, and took a long drink. It was cold, but not freezing, which made it quite enjoyable to his throat, which was dry after so much heavy breathing from the battle. The air was cool, but the sun was warm, which made for a pleasant outdoor environment. He pulled out a chunk of salted rat meat, and began have a tasty snack. The meat was good-quality, straight from the cellars of the manor, and tender for being dried and salted, so his teeth weren't objecting too much to the work of severing off bite-size pieces.

He relaxed and listened to the interesting conversation that Isaac was putting up.

Isaac was suprised to see that he was attracting listeners. Well, even if it was only a few of them, Isaac was still suprised. He had never been good with words, and began to think on how to start.

"I think it best if I let Daric help me with this. I've never been too good of a speaker and I think that Daric would be able to put some things into words better than I." Isaac nodded to Daric, and flipped through his journal once more and found the most recent page.

"For starters, I would like to say that most of what Daric and Myself are about to discuss is for the most part theory. Take from it what you will but most of this has not been tested. Lets see..." Isaac thought for a minute... "Daric, could you start us out please? I dont know where to begin..." He then held out the journal to Daric and continued thinking.

Daric grabbed the journal and flashed over a few pages to refresh his memory. After he collected his thoughts and started to speak.

"Ok, lets see... Well, these theories are about the spells Mark and Recall. These spells work together to transport a person from one location to another. I'm sure most of us have seen or even used these spells."

Daric checked to make sure he was being understood, he didn't want to leave people in the dark.

"Isaac has determined what the form of transport is exactly. It was assumed that Recall teleported the peson directly to the location. Isaac's research discovered that it isn't teleportation, but more like a small... wormhole, if you will." Daric turns to Isaac and qued him to continue.

"Thanks for that..." Isaac trailed off under his voice to Daric. "Alright, as Daric said, I beleive that the spell 'recall' cannot simply transport the caster from the caster's current location to the location of where the spell 'mark' was cast. There has to be some basic form of movement, some place where distance is shrunk compared to our world. Now, what i'm hypothesizing is that the caster of 'recall' has to move through 'Oblivion', or the realm of death, to get to the 'marked' location." Isaac stopped and let the others take in what he said.

"Uh... lets see..." Isaac looked through his book again. "O.K... Another way to say what I'm thinking is that a person can't simply 'dematerialize' and 'materialize', they have to stay in a solid state, or molocules could be lost in the process of that materialization. I'm saying that a person goes (recall) through Oblivion, where consequently distance is meaningless, and appears at the 'marked' location in our world. This passage through Oblivion is so trivial that it is almost impossible to document, hence my studies, and is taking a great deal of time to even begin proving it."

"Now, if you havent put it together by now, the reason I need a tomb to research, specifically the one I wanted to do my research in before our troubles began, is because places where death is as common as life are 'closer', if you will, to the Oblivion stream than an everyday household or anywhere else." Isaac breathed as that was a 4 line sentance :P , "So, being in a tomb would be much easier to document the movement of an object during the process."

Isaac smiled after his revalation his theory. Nothing solid, actually nothing solid at all, but he was pleased with it.

Tylen perked up in interest. He was quite familiar with the spell. He didn't know how to use it of course, but he had seen countless travelers simply cast a spell to go home, and was perplexed by the efficient and convenient nature of the spell. Anyone proficient with mark and recall could trade days or even weeks of hard traveling for a diminuitive drain of magicka.

"How exactly do you hope to prove this theory?" Asked Tylen, as he took another bite into his rat meat.

"Well, I can't right now." Isaac buried his eyes in his journal for a few seconds, " Actually thats why its all theory. But in the future, say after our expedition, I would like to try and test it vigorously. I mean some ideas I have involve being able to figure out where mark was cast just by examining the recall site or even being able to keep a recall OPEN for extended periods of time. The latter is obviously unlikely but thats what science is, after all."

Isaac closed the journal and looked up from his reading. He had been keeping his eyes in the book for some time, and laughed at his own presenting disabilities. "Well anyway, I need something to eat or I won't be able to keep up y'all." Isaac Ruffled his pockets. I dont suppose anyone would happen to have any spare food? I neglected to bring any."

"I brought a plentiful amount of good-quality food from the manor," Tylen said as he tossed rat meat and some bread to Isaac. "But what I meant was, how are you planning to try to prove the theory? You said you were going to do vigorous testing - what exactly are you going to do? Maybe send an animal through the 'opening' left by the recall?"

Tylen was never profiecient in magic, but had a profound interest in its workings, and it seemed like Isaac could teach him a lot.

Isaac took a mouthful of bread with his fist and shoved it into his mouth. "Vell...yoo see..." Isaac quickly swallowed it. "Excuse me, you see, I'm not through enough research to ue animals, so I'll probably just mark an area outside the tomb, or in a different environment if thats what it takes, and send a small object through. Maybe a goblet or something of the sort." Isaac took a hunk of meat in his mouth. "Phardon...Pardon my manners." Isaac said as he swallowed. "The testing I might actually need help with. You know, someone to watch the marked spot as I, hopefully, send the object through. I've never really though about it, but Necromancy could hold some possible keys to my research. At least the part involving the Oblivion stream." Isaac looked around, some facial expressions had changed. Apparently that last comment didnt float too well.

"Not that I'd ever try necromancy, myself. I try not to upset the natives, as well as arouse stereotypes and suspisians about my research.
