FlightlessBird
Isaac had noticed few dents and breaks in his armour, so he decided to keep the trivial damage to himself. His staff was in good condition, though it could use some polishing. Isaac's thoughts then drifted on to the grim topic at the time, slavery. It was blatently clear that the party's general feeling for slavery was unsettling on a good day. Any business like slavery in which one of the participants is forced to do something against their own will was bad business, which was unfortunate because Vvardenfell had its roots deep within Slavery. Something felt incorrect in that plantation. Something in the air that left Isaac feeling cold. Even if the sun was out and at full shine, Isaacs gut felt...empty. Crim, The Red Thunder
Wren solemnly looked around the plantation. It took all of her willpower not to start beating the guards senseless. Then her eyes fell on a tragic sight. A slave, being beaten. She clenched her fists and tried to look away while ignoring the screams. She merely hoped to get out of here fast. OOC: The beaten slave thing came from something i heard about in a mod... forgot the name though, but it added the ability to beat slaves and made existing slave ownere occasionally beat their slaves... 1 further word... Whips. Someone had a horrible mind...
Eiade
OOC: *CASTS LVL 6 RESURRECT* And from the cobwebbed posts and dated battles, a new life has sprung forth, bursting with enthusiasm and energy! Or... at least I hope so. I hereby resurrect this RP to be started again. We will pick up right where we left off, but we will lose some players and gain a new one. Fishystick and Harver will no longer be playing, but welcome Abramul! I will do my best to make this bumpy transition smooth. Here we go. IC: Harver perked up and trotted over to a sign nailed to a post. SLAVE MARKET LAGGING. LOOKING FOR WORKERS FOR SEVERAL DAYS LABOR IN FIELDS TO HELP MEET PRODUCTION QUOTA. 50 SEPTIMS A DAY. TALK TO HEAD GUARD FOR INFORMATION. A wave of relief came over him. Finally, a job! And good pay! He needed the money. Tylen had been watching him, and a solemn look came over the dunmer's face."Tylen," began Harver. "Uh... I..""Yes you may leave," said Tylen gravely. "Noone is forcing you to stay with us.""Thank you!" Harver smiled and walked briskly off to find himself a job. He was no longer with the group. Vallrey was nowhere to be seen. They hadn't been at the plantation for five minutes and he was totally out of sight. Tylen was bothered, but then he decided to think nothing of it, and went over to the smithy to have his weapon mended. The dwemer sword hardly needed it, but Tylen liked his weapons in tip-top shape. After a few minutes, the armorer handed back the weapon, and graciously recieved his payment. The party had regrouped on the side of the 'road'."Are we ready to see Dren?" He asked them. "Remember, he's a very busy man, and doesn't like visitors. Maybe you should let me do the talking, because he'll dislike me the least." The party continued to walk down the path, and the manor came into view. Several party members were noticably bothered by the slavery and the abuse that they were seeing, but he trusted them to keep quiet. They approached the manor, and a guard stopped them."What business do you have here?" Inquired the guard, clad in a full suit of bonemold."We must speak to Dren," responded Tylen. "It is an urgent matter." The guard grunted, and went inside to verify with Dren if they could come in. While the guard was inside, Tylen noticed at the dock an Argonian being apprehended. He was wearing a suit of chitin, so he didn't look like a slave. The guards began to drag him in their direction. "Ok, come in." Said the guard, poking his head out of the door. The four entered, and were escorted up stairs and through hallways to a room on the 3rd floor. Orvas Dren stood at a desk, writing down something. He was clad in fine Orcish armor, and an ebony spear stood next to him leaned up against the wall. He turned to face everyone, and his face gave them an odd look."Quite an odd group," he said. "Alright then. Out with it. What is this 'urgent news'?" Tylen spoke up, stated his rank in House Hlaalu, and asked to borrow 2 canoes."What for?" Asked Dren. There was no hiding anything from this man. He must be told the whole story. Tylen went on to explain what was going on, what they had done already and what needed to be done. Dren's expression had turned very serious and grave."This is news of the century," said Dren. "The documents that the letter speaks of, they do exist. However, for them to be revealed to Morrowind would mean travesty for House Hlaalu." Dren grabbed his spear in one hand. "And we don't want that.""What we want is the truth," said Tylen firmly."Go downstairs," commanded Dren. The party obeyed, not wanting any trouble, and Dren followed."The truth," said Dren sternly. "Is that you know too much." As soon as that was said, two guards came up the stairs from the first floor, holding an Argonian by each arm."Sir," said a guard. "Thi-""Silence," Dren cut him short, never taking his focus off the party. "We cannot trust you now to withhold your oath to House Hlaalu. You are naive, Tylen Ethelas. Your 'truth' would mean the destruction of our house, and the destruction of any peace Morrowind ever had. Since you and your party seem quite stubborn, we have no choice but to kill you. The agendas must be stopped, but not by you. You will destroy us all! You two! Kill them!" The guards hesitated."But.. What about-""I don't care about that lizard!!" Dren called two more guards up from the first floor. The first two guards who were apprehending the Argonian let go of him, and ran towards the party, and the two from the first floor ran past the Argonian as well. As if they had practiced it, Isaac, Wren and Tylen simultaneously cast simple paralyze spells. (ooc: yes, Tylen does have illusion) Three of the guards were stopped in mid stride and fell over, immovable, then the fourth guard tripped over his comrades."Ha!" Laughed Isaac. The Argonian meanwhile, had decided to take advantage of the situation, and bolted down the stairs to the first floor."Run!" Yelled Tylen. "Out that door!" There was a door behind the party, and Daric opened it frantically and went through, followed by the others."Arrghh!!" Yelled Dren, and he charged at the party with his spear. Wren slammed the door shut, and the tip of Dren's spear pearced through. They were on a small patio on the second floor."We have to jump!" Said Tylen. The party did not hesitate, and scrambled over the banister to drop 10 feet to the ground. None of them landed gracefully. Daric and Isaac let out grunts as they and everyone else rolled a few times. "Get up! Go! To the docks!" They all scrambled to their feet and began to sprint. The Argonian by now had burst out the front door of the manor. He was in the middle of the plantation, and the best way to escape was to be the docks. Dren and the four guards bursted out onto the patio. "STOP THEM!!" Dren yelled. Four guards were ahead of the party, two to the left and two to the right, all walking quickly with swords drawn and tower shields up. "Only disable them!" Tylen said to the party. "Just get them out of our way!" Tylen: He is at the front of the party, not drawing his sword because it does nothing but slash and bring forth blood, which is not what is needed right now. Instead he is waiting for other party members to act so that he might be able to throw a safe punch or two.Isaac: You are to the left of Tylen. Being the most potent offensive spellcaster, you must act immediately to disable as many act you can.Daric: You are to the right of Tylen. Your situation is the same as Isaac's. Choose a spell wisely.Wren: You are to the right of Daric. Your moderate skill in illusion is your best choice.Cloaked-At-Night: You have just exited the manor and are running for the docks, which is your only option for escape. You are not being pursued; the party is recieving most of the attention from the guards. If you like, feel free to tell what you are thinking and react to the situation. OOC: Keep in mind: in most battles, players do the action, DM gives the results of the action.
Abramul
As soon as he couldn't see the guards, Cloaked-at-Night slowed to a jog. Running is an excellent way to attract attention...the boss here said he didn't care about me, so I should be safe while everyone is still running after their tails. They wanted canoes, and I need to get away from this place. It'd be wise to assist them. Once he reaches the dock, Cloaked-at-Night begins preparing any canoes or rowboats that may be there. He isn't as effective as he could be, though, because his arms are still painful to use. If he is disturbed, he dives into the lake, and casts Water Breathing* (Argonian racial spell, 120 second, 5 mana points, 100% success rate). *Do I need to cast this, or do I have it as a CE? Crim, The Red Thunder
Wren drew her hands, and hesitated, but a split-second before creating a fairly short paralyze spell. she immediately casts it at her target. (Being a nord, and not the most skilled mage around, don't expect this spell again... i was looking at... oh... 25-30 second duration... that would really take it out of me... Maybe we could try knocking out the enemy with blunt weapons?) Edit: Slight problem, Eiade, or Tyjet... My topic subs aren't working. I think my browser is blocking the emails for subscriptions... what is the address they come from now? Anyone?
FlightlessBird
OOC: Good to be back! Isaacs attention went from the pain in his legs to the two guards attacking from the left in an instant. With a short breath, Isaac mumbled a quick incantaion and pointed his finger full extent about knee's length off the ground aimed directly between the two guards. Flames erupted and lept from Isaac's hand towards the legs of the two guards. Already Isaac was preparing the same spell in his head to repeat if the current spell did not serve its purpose. tyjet3
Daric looks ahead of him and sees one of the guards freeze in place. Wren lowers her hands and stand back knowing she can't do much more with out a weapon now. Isaac's hand unleashed a fiery blaze on the ground near the guards on the left. It made them pause for a second from shock. One of the guards gets too close and his foot catches on fire but goes out quickly after he kicks it around a little.Daric raises hands to cast a spell knowing that he can't do damage... He scanned through spells in his mind and finally decided on one. He faced one of the guards on the right and unleashed his greatest burden spell... Eiade
Daric: A purple energy is released from your hand, and it sails into the guard farthest to the right. He issues forth a terrible grunt, as his legs are no longer able to support his weight. He falls to the ground, incapacitated and having trouble breathing from the weight of the rest of his torso. The other guard to the right who had not been hit with a spell hesitated at the sight of his friend falling from the burden spell. Perfect opportunity for Tylen. He runs up and gives the man a swift kick to the groin as hard as he could. The man's armor helped a little but not enough to make it not hurt. He drops to the ground, curled up and gripping his groin. However, Tylen is now rushed by the other two guards. He draws his sword but only intends to parry and defend himself. "Ah, a little help!" Tylen calls to his comrades.
tyjet3
See Tylen in danger, Daric quickly thinks of something to do that may help him...Can't do a burden spell... too much of a risk... ah ha!Daric brings one of his hands up and focuses on the sword of one of the two guards... He hoped that with enough power he maybe able to unarm the guard, giving Tylen a chance to defend or attack. He focuses on the guard as his hand starts to give a soft glow... OOC: @ Abramul: It doesn't make much sense to have you cast a spell for a racial characteristic. Consider it CE.
FlightlessBird
Seeing his first spell did not succeed, Isaac decided to add a little more power to the next fire spell. Using the time-frame he bought himself, Isaac prepared a fairly reasonable spell mixture. In addition to more powerful flames, Isaac decided to add poison to this spell. Nothing deadly, just to put them in shock, hopefully giving the group enough time to escape. Isaac repeated the incantation he made earlier and added his poison effect to it. He aimed just above the knee inbetween the two gaurds and let the flames fly.
