Daric, seeing Tylen quietly lashing out decided to try and bring up some conversation to try and steer Tylen's mind away from what ever he was thinking about... Not knowing what to say, Daric quickly came up with a topic... "Stars look nice tonight..."

You can do better than that... he thought to himself.

"So Isaac, do you think that the tomb we are heading to could be used for your research?...maybe???"

Isaac saw Tylen's current state as well and could tell that Daric was crying out for help on some conversation...

"Uh..." Isaac replied quickly while his hands immeadiatly went to his pocket to confirm the location of his journal. It was there, and he continued, "Possibly, but I'm not sure is Tylent might find it offensive, him being a member of House Hlaluu. Even if it was ok with Tylen, I'm not even sure if there is enough presence of death in the tomb for my research to be conducted."

Isaac grew weary now, the weight of his armour seemed to be increasing every second. He took off his boots and bracers, leaving only his curiass and greaves to defend him.

"If I can get some rest, I'd gladly take up watch next shift."

Wren thinks for a moment, then asks: "Tylen, just who is buried in the Hlaalu tomb? House Hlaalu members, or some family NAMED Hlaalu? What i mean is, will Nevena Ules be buried here?" Wren winces at her stupidity in bringing up his ex-masters name.

"Isaac, it depends on the research. Hopefully this research doesn't involve disturbing the physical graves, or the spirits themselves. If the spirits are willing, I have no problem."

Tylen listens to Wren's question and sighs.

"The Hlaalu Ancestral Tomb, like all ancestral tombs in Morrowind, are occupied by the dead of a single family, not a faction. If someone was buried in the Hlaalu Tomb that wasn't of the Hlaalu family, the tomb would lose its significance, and, according to traditional Dunmer ancestor worship, the tomb would no longer be a place where the spirits would gather. The Hlaalu family line still continues, and devout House Hlaalu members eventually make a 'pilgrimage' to the Tomb to pay respects to the founders of the House. Nevana Ules, because of the wealthiness of her family, will probably be buried in her own family tomb. The destruction of the Hlaalu Ancestral Tomb means the destruction of our very history. Destroying the tomb would be to House Hlaalu as destroying the Library of Vivec would be to the Temple."

OOC: For those of you that are like me and are Morrowind madmen, here is a link to the book Ancestors and the Dunmer, for more about the dark elf practice of ancestral worship. It's actually very interesting.

Cloaked-at-Night stops at a particular line.

considering them to be inhuman and evil, like Orcs and Argonians

"Inhuman, yes, although I've heard tell that Orcs are Merfolk. But evil? When was this written?"

OOC: I assume that Tylen has the book with him.

"Isaac, you mentioned your research has to do with Mark and Recall spells. A consideration that seems obvious to me is this: What happens when they are used underwater? Another thing that might be useful would be a variation that causes an object to 'use' the spells."

"I've already expiremented underwater, and the caster comes out wet, but the spell does not bring large amounts of water. As you may know, Water does not instantly fill a container, so if my "portal" theory is correct, then the portal appears and disappears so quickly that water does not have time to fill in. That would explain why the caster comes out wet, and the spell doesnt bring water with it."

Isaac drew a breath.

"As far as using the spell on other objects, I hope to be able to accomplish this in the tomb, rather than risk sending myself into Oblivion." Isaac gave faint smile.

"Well how about this. Say someone was in the water and had a rope tied to him, and his friend had the other end of the rope. When the friend pulls him out, the water isn't dragged with him. Only the water that is soaked in his clothing is taken. Maybe the portals are the same way. They might simply pull the caster to the mark point, instead of opening a doorway. This would explain why when someone is underwater and recalled, there isn't a huge burst of water. And as far as the portal opening and closing too fast for a lot of water to come through - if there is time to put a person through, there is time to put water through. Evidence and logic seem to point to no on the door theory. Maybe they pulled to the point, but being pulled all the while through some extradimensional plane?"

"Now you see the position I am in." Isaac sighed. "I dont know if I'm right, or your right, or we're both wrong, or we're both right. The rope theory I had heard once before, but I think I had too much brandy and my scholar friend had too much as well, so I dismissed it. Though now it seems quite promising to try. What I also have to ask myself, how does recall know to take the caster and the clothes they wear, instead of just the caster? How does the spell tell the difference between the casters clothes and the surrounding environment, say water? I hope to be able to answer this when I have time to do the research. And with all those questions I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do the research in the Hlaluu ancestral tomb."

It was a mouthful, and Isaac wasn't used to speaking that much. He then bit off a piece of semi-soggy bread taken from his pocket, hoping the conversation would steer far enough from his expertise so he could eat.

OOC: First off, I think we should give Flightless a pat on the back for his wonderful research information... it's good to see MW lore people... that was great conversation guys. It made me wish I could do the research in real life...

IC: Daric noticed that Isaac was feeling overwhelmed and decided it was time for a subject change...

"So Cloak-At-Night, did you ever find your friend?"

"Yes, it seems he's been put in the position of dockhand...which means he only has to work at night. Apparently, there's some more expensive merchandise going through there than Netch hide and comberries. To be precise, most of those crates are full of Moon Sugar.

I didn't have time to learn which way it was being shipped, but I suspect Dren has found a way to grow it. You might have noticed that there were Khaajiit (pl.?) slaves being used as farmers there...although you likely had more pressing business with Dren."

Cloaked-at-Night 'blinks'. "Once we have finished whatever our current tasks require, I need to stop back, and release Gah Julan. Also, I need to kill Dren."
