lazloarcadia
So guys I'm looking to finally learn more actual modding. I want to be able to pick out a few weapon mods that I like and make replacers so that my modded weapons over write the ones from the base game. Like this: Modern Weapon Replacer - Fusillade Grenade Launcherhttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/39061 At this point I'm not looking to do anything real special with this and just want to swap out a 1 to 1 direct replacers at the same level, same faction leveled list, etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I would start with such a process? Any websites, videos, discord communities for total noobs that wouldn't mind throwing me a bone, etc would be really great. Thank you in advance for any constructive suggestions. lazloarcadia
Showing some proof of concept that I'm happy to do my own leg work, here are examples of some of the resources I've already found: How to replace weaponshttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/2379 Bethesda Mod Schoolhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2g2oK5KhZT0WUOw0Y_8HFudZbgfmcdEl Still very much hoping for additional suggestions. If I'm correct most of the replacer / level list adjustments I'm looking to make can be done from XEdit, but honestly don't know if doing so from the Creation Kit would be easier / more effective in some way. LarannKiar
At this point I'm not looking to do anything real special with this and just want to swap out a 1 to 1 direct replacers at the same level, same faction leveled list, etc. You can either overwrite - the vanilla weapon's base form (i.e. 10mm) - or the Leveled Items (i.e. LL_10mm_Pistol_Auto). If I'm correct most of the replacer / level list adjustments I'm looking to make can be done from XEdit, but honestly don't know if doing so from the Creation Kit would be easier / more effective in some way. It would be much easier with the Creation Kit. Still very much hoping for additional suggestions. It would be important to know which NPCs' which weapons would you like to replace? lazloarcadia
Honestly I hate vanilla weapons and I'm looking at replacing all of them. Currently there are some great modded weapons out on the Nexus, so I thought this would be an easier way to get my feet wet. Short answer to your question: I'd like to have the Gepard GM6 Lynx (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/57122?tab=description) as a Gauss Gun replacer. Simple. Nothing fancy. Level List says, "Hey put Gauss Gun here!" and my mod says, "Nope! It's a Gepard GM6 Lynx BABY!!" Later I'll be looking at how to get more specific with this sorta thing, such as the minutemen might gain an upgrade from crappy weapons to a nicer quality of weapon after retaking the Castle (quest trigger). Or the above mentioned Gepard GM6 Lynx might only show up as a Gauss Gun replacer for Brotherhood characters, etc. Another idea I had was possibly adding a keyword to heavy weapons such as a minigun, so it could only be used in power armor...etc etc. For now however, I'm just trying to keep it simple. Gauss Gun replacer.
