T-51b design - Tin Man vs Powered Armor

To begin, I am a fan of Fallout 3 and it's many mods, I enjoy the variety of a game that changes every time I play it, regardless of how bad the ending is, or how short the current DLC is.

While playing through the game, something began to bother me, particularly when venturing around, near or with any characters or enemies in power armor.

The thought recently struck me that the 'power armors' in Fallout 3, by design are little more than tin man suits that are 'supposedly' powered.

And me being the particular, artistic nutcase that I am, was not satisfied with that, so I took matters into my own grubby, irridated hands and drew what I think the most iconic suit of powered armor should look like: The T-51b

Feel free to put in constructive criticism, I am far from perfect and am more than willing to admit such.

To note: The armor is heavily inspired by the high res renders of the SC2 Terran Marine powered armor, as it is currently the best example for the scale that I can find.

T-51b Powered Armor - Brotherhood of Steel Variant

+3 Strength

50/85% DR*

30% Rad Resistance

+15 Big guns

+15 Small guns

+15 Energy weapons

Wg 75**

The T-51b Powered Armor is the pinnacle of Pre-War US Powered Armor technology, Developed by West Tek, this powerful and versatile armor was standard issue in US Mechanized regiments in the single year it was in use leading up to the great war.

Fitted with a back mounted Micro-Fusion Pack which powers HiFlo hydraulic actuators all along the suits exo-skeletal armor plating, which is made of a poly-laminate composite and coated in a silver ablative material, these rare, yet powerful suits are the crown jewels of the Brotherhood of Steel, the almost exclusive users and collectors of these suits.

Serving in the wastelands as a powerful platform from which Brotherhood Paladins carry out their tasks, the stability of the suit and the ease with which one can wield anything from a small arm, to a complicated laser rifle to the powerful Fat-Man even while on the move makes this an incredibly effective armor.

*So thick and durable is the armor itself that it is virtually immune to most small arms, as substantial kinetic force is required to even scratch the surface of the armor plating. Certain weapons are more than capable of damaging the armor, however a significant amount of damage can be sustained before rounds actually begin to penetrate the armor itself. (Weapons unable to deal more than 50 damage are useless against the armor, however, these weapons still deal damage to the overall condition of the armor.)

**While this massive armor is extremely heavy when not in use, when donned, the armor can support it's own weight, thus allowing the user to move about freely as if they were in more casual attire. (While not worn, the T-51b weights 75 Kg. While worn, it weighs 0 Kg.)

NOTE: This is just my own thoughts on what the armor should, could do in gaming terms.

PS: To the modding community, specifically those familiar with making their own models: I DARE any of you to attempt to make this armor, to scale, for a playable mod for Fallout 3.

I agree 100%. Power armor should make you near invincible. Missles/nukes should be the only thing capable of taking you down. Poorly equiped raiders should run from enclave/BoS and most supermutants should crumble before them.

The only problem with that idea is how rare the ammunition is against the limitless enclave (Especially if you use a mod increasing their spawns). So to put your idea into play... you would need to modify a lot of drops and ammunition boxes to have mass quantities of missiles and mini-nukes which... IMHO would kinda kill the point of having the power armor when from a great distance away you can reduce a landscape to ash long before they get to you (especially using the MIRV).

While balance issues would indeed have to be worked out with the example stats provided, those stats are just that: An example purely for demonstrational/suppository reasons. ("This is what I think it SHOULD be").

The main goal of this topic is to evaluate the current models of the powered armors in Fallout 3, specifically the T-51B armor, against other models, such as my own pictured in the beginning post.
