WarlordThorvald
hello guyslately I've been experiencing sth strange which was never happening before. I remember playing skyrim in may/june and didn't have this problem. So, in cities and around villages, every 4 sec my fps will drop eg in whiterun from 25 to 15 (25 max because I play on laptop and no bitching about laptop because I've been playing on it before and didn't have such problems)., and it lasts around 4 sec. this was happening on newest radeon drivers as well as on skyrim-optimised 11.11c, so I don't think this is a driver issue. specs: core i3-350 m 2,27 GHz, 6GB RAM, Amd Radeon Mobility HD5470 1 GB here's my mod list: These plugins are recognised by BOSS and have been sorted according to its masterlist. It seems like something is stealing cpu power every 4 secs but I looked in taskmgr and found nothing, well the bug happened even after formatting and reinstalling windows... I dunno... is that 1.9 patch...? heard beth made some s*** in 1.9 because of <censored> ps3 version of Skyrim and it affected the whole game... Treplos
Dunno about the fps issue, but I would start with cleaning all the dirty mods first. http://www.creationkit.com/TES5Edit_Cleaning_Guide_-_TES5Edit
bben46
Not every problem is game related - check on any background programs and processes that may be running before beating your head against the wall or reinstalling everything. I have never cleaned any of the Beth game files and have never seen a problem caused by dirty edits in Skyrim ( that doesn't mean there are none though as I have not tested every mod there is.) Most dirty or wild edits are nothing but duplicated references and don't do anything - let alone crash a game. There was an Oblivion file that if cleaned would cause a crash. And a couple of Oblivion mods that had dirty edits that could cause a crash if used with certain other popular mods. Cleaning shouldn't hurt anything though, so if it makes you feel safer, go ahead.
Treplos
If you suspect your fps drop to be from certain mods, then you need to troubleshoot that. This process of elimination may take a while, but you will narrow down the culprit. Start a new test game with only default settings and no mods and see if the fps problems persist. If the problem is still there, then it maybe either your game or some other process or program on your PC. It could be either something still running in the background, or it could be a software or hardware problem. If no other game is having fps problems, then you need to check your skyrim files, update drivers, etc. This is all just general troubleshooting. If you do not see fps issues in the new test run, then it is most likely a mod or even an ini issue. Keep the default ini and load the mods 1 by 1 and test in game to see which is causing the fps drops. If none of the mods is causing the problems, then it maybe an ini issue, which you will need to narrow down again by going through all the settings. I generally have fps problems when settings wrong/too high shadow or papyrus settings for my laptop. Edited September 11, 2013 by Treplos
WarlordThorvald
well I've never cleaned my mods and never had this issue, besides I'd have to clean mods every time I re-download them from steam or wherever else... too much work and I'm pretty sure that's not the case. the problem persists on clean game without any mods. I dunno, maybe it's Avast problem, haven't tried disabling it but Avast never gave me such problems. honestly, I think it's because of last skyrim update - quite a few ppl were talking about some fps, loading time problems etc.
