Thought it was time to make this a new topic rather then clutter up the lancer armor with this mod (I havent finished with the lancer armor btw, going to UV map that more soon)

 

I have been creating this armor on the side while working on the lancer armor and I have made some really serious progress on it. In fact, its nearly done D: Its based on the armor that appears in the film Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. I don't remember how good/bad the film was.. was very young when I saw it. thought the armor looked cool when some one linked it in my lancer armor and titan armor threads so I thought it would be awsome to try and model it. It was also a good excuse to try out some new techniques, some of which I will be using in my lancer armor mod. The body has been UV mapped, Textured and normal mapped with the additional projected normals for the cloth material on the armor.

 

Here are some of the images I presented before. maya isnt so good at bringing the normal map out in models, Its better if I get it ingame to see if it works or not.

All I have to do now is UV map the helmet, I made a test to see if it worked in game and I was pretty impressed. this is with the 1024x1024 texture, I can include the 2048x2048 one for those who want to take it to the max once its released.

you can see the poor rigging on the leg but this was just to test the texture more then the rig. Also the helmet isnt completed yet, its not even got a UV map.

That is insanely awesome. Good, and very very fast work!

 

Considered making a helmet like this as well?

I really dig this....can't wait for the helmet to be finished...I really loved that movie...and I was VERY VERY GOOD! (Or a supermutant will eat your face!) lol

 

But it was very well put together and a fresh take at whole "universe" of it. And the main evil dude had a KILLER jacket!

I got the dvd recently so I'll get to see it again at some point.. I only have really breif memories of it so It will certainly be interesting c:

 

EDIT: yes I know the logo is backwards lol its because I mirrored some of the meshes to save some space on the uv map.. didnt realise it would do that until I'd finished texturing it so theres not much I can do about it :'C
