Sorry to inform you but I have been looking for far more than five days and I have been told that there is NO 3ds MAX 6 .NIF EXPORT/INPORT PLUGIN :!: ! I couldn't believe it at first myself but after searching a bit more I just gave up. But keep searching, you might have access to sites I don't that might just have what about a million people need. IF you still can't find it, do what I do:

1.) Get Milkshape for a measly $30.

2.) Go to www.yahoogroups.com, and search for a group called "NIFlab" or something similar.

3.) Download their NIF exporter and Inporter (FOR MILKSHAPE!!).

4.) Install them, and then you can do this:

a.) In 3ds MAX 6, make your model, and export as a .3ds file.

b.) Now in Milkshape, inport the same model (also as a .3ds file).

c.) Then export it as a .NIF file.

There are some specifications that are required if you want to make armor, and weapons. Try asking Peregrine about this, he would know. If I were you I would first practice with some static objects like a simple teapot or something.

*For the NIF to properly export you need two things: Textures (In .tga, .dds, or .bmp) use .dds file types for alpha channels, and if I were you I would use .tga overall, never Bitmaps <_< . And all the objects need to be placed in the very middle of the grid. Do this by manually entering 0, 0, 0, in all of the manual entry boxes for movement.

Again ask Peregrine, he knows way more about this than I do ^_^ . Well, good luck modeling.

P.S: If you can't get Milkshape, e-mail me ([email protected])
