SilusCrow
Ok, just got The Pitt today, and I just beat it not 30 minutes ago. Took me a good 4-5 hours I'd say, and that was with exploring everywhere and getting all the good loot. Anyway, I must say I'm satisfied. The story was pretty good, and had a few twists here and there. The weapons and gear, at least in my opinion, trump that of the OA mod and the vanilla Fallout 3. Anyway, I doubt ya'll be here to hear me ramble or nothing. So, for those that have played The Pitt, what did you think? Favorite part? Least favorite part? Love it, hate it? Also: Trogs = fast as hell and spooky in the dark.
Cyvanhoe
Finished it myself a few hours ago. First of all The Pitt has all the classic Fallout atmosphere that the main game is kinda lacking. It's got a huge Raider base, slaves waiting to be either freed or be fated to live on their slave lives. Creepy factory ruins with fast and agile ghouls (Trogs), fitting weapons and armors... and most importantly, it looks and feels like Fallout again, giving you the full choice on what to do with all that. Think Eulogy and his slavers were bad guys ? Just wait until you meet the Pitt Raiders. Those guys make Eulogy look like a saint. That aside this DLC is kinda challenging, especially for characters that are mostly non-combatant. I played it on easy difficulty, just to get the story. But even then the fast Trogs and sheer masses of raiders caused me to save really often and even reload those saves due to a quick death. If you want a challenge try this DLC on Hard Mode. As for the content it delivers... I'm not a big fan of Raider armors and that didn't change with the new armor gear the Pitt Raiders are sporting. They do look a lot better than Wasteland Raider Armors though. The Raider Power Armor will find a few lovers too I guess. The new slave clothes do look nice and fitting the atmosphere, perfect for characters who like to show off their slaves. The weapons... Well, there's the Auto-Saw we all know from the trailers. Plus a silenced and scoped Assault Rifle, thankfully repairable by other common Assault Rifles. That's about it folks, not much new here. Finally there's the bug department. I've read about the obviously buggy X-Box version here and I am glad to say that I played through the whole DLC without a single crash. Only once I equipped the Auto-saw and the blade was missing. Re-Equipping solved that problem though and the problem never showed up again. I have to add though that I took the DLC files from the GFW folder and put them into the Data folder of the game, thus enabling them to run like a common mod. No problems there. My take on it... It's well worth its money. It adds a lot of atmosphere, content to be played more than once (as you can choose what side to take) and is challenging. Buy it, even if the main Fallout 3 started to bore you. As for me, I certainly wasn't disappointed.
CWRice
I found the Pitt much more satisfying than Operation Anchorage. There's several unique perks to get along the way, and quite a few unique weapons and new armor. In addition to the Infiltrator and Auto-Ax mentioned above (the scoped, silenced assault rifle), there's a unique .32 pistol I found, a new type of metal armor, several new types of raider armor and one unique suit of power armor. There's also a couple of things to do after the quest and you can return to the Pitt once you leave it.
DJexs
loved the story line but there was no neutral path so i made my own killed them all and kept the cure
SilusCrow
*Laughs* The "Cure" threw me for a bit of a loop. When I learned waht the cure was, I was all "Haha, screw that." Can anyone else imagine how friggin' creepy the Steelyard would be with MMM, some lighting tweaks, and the Silent Hill soundtrack? Only reason I managed to not get mauled there was that "The Shadow" perk that gives you an auto-camo whenever you go stealth. If it wasn't for that, I would have had to use the Autoaxe a lot more often.
Cyvanhoe
Well, I kinda went the hard way at my first playthrough. Played until I met Ashur and found out about the 'cure'. Took the cure and then fought my way out, wasting Ashur, his lieutenants, the Steel Mill... heck, I just brought the gun justice to every slaver in the Pitt. Then I brought the 'cure' to Wernher and guess what he says ? "Hey, great, now that we have the cure we can take care of Ashur and his gang. I have an exact plan for that." Well, D'uh. Couldn't you have mentioned that, like... earlier, Wern ?
JohnGrimm
It terms of moral right and right and wrong, I sided with Ashur. I initially did it because I figured it'd be the "bad" ending, well apparently that's not the case. If he has to crack a few eggs to make an omelet then so be it. Finding a cure to mutation and creating a civilized society sounds a lot better than just letting the slaves go free to wander around the wasteland and get mauled by Deathclaws. And can anyone tell me how to get my stuff back?
Jake71887
And can anyone tell me how to get my stuff back? My stuff was in a foot locker in the room that you enter the arena from. As for The Pitt, I was kind of disappointed. I enjoyed the Troggs, but I thought the quests weren't all too great, and even playing on hard I only died once. The gear was o.k. but in the end I didn't end up using any of it once I got back to the wastelands... The silenced/scoped assault rifle just didn't do enough dmg to be considered a viable alternative. And I don't wear power armor so that set was useless :(
CWRice
As a sniper, I thought the Infiltrator was great. It's damage seems comparable to the standard sniper rifle, and it's silenced and has a larger clip. It's basically the best damage silenced weapon in the entire game. Assuming we're talking vanilla here ;) I actually thought access to the ammo press might be the best reward of the game. As a small guns guy, being able to dump the 3000 rounds of 5mm ammo and make it into 5.56mm was pretty handy.
SilusCrow
Tonight I'm probably gonna try to work on a mod that beefs up the Steelyard a bit. It was fun and all, but I was expecting a little more ya know? More trogs, a little bit darker, ect. SO I'm gonna up the spawn numbers and see if I can't make them respawn after a time. And I'm gonna see if I can tweak the lighting a bit. Make it a real nightmare to go through. Edit: Ok, I have NO IDEA what I'm doing in the GECK >.<
