Hello,

A while back I suggested Skyrim be moved to Alaska: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/10706598-5-meter-resolution-topo-of-alaska-move-skyrim/?hl=%2Balaska

Now I have a more modest proposal based on becoming aware of "World Creator 3" software: https://www.world-creator.com/

I watched a few tutorials and went through the gallery, and it would seem feasible by taking in the current surface map, raise it a bit, stretch it 10X on a side, use our understanding of the geology to create some soil layers, erode it, put terrain objects and roads back into the map, and then integrate the cities, buildings, and caves/ruins back in. This would give modders more room for more and bigger cities, locations, etc, without the current cramped feel. In my opinion the worst example of cramping are the farms around Whiterun (not economically scaled) and "The Barrow" to the east by 40 yards of Iverstead. I know this will break all mods that add objects.

Do this and get it working reasonably well, looking good, and downloadable, and I'll send you (the first to do it) the $250 for the World Creator software.

Commendable as your idea is, considering that at 14.5 square miles in size, Skyrim exists in the space of only a large contemporary real-world suburb (or perhaps a very very small county), a state, especially one the size of Alaska, it might be asking for a bit much. The suburb I live in is about 11-1/2 square miles in area. And it's not all that big geographically in comparison to many other suburbs in the metro area. (and as far as people are concerned, it has almost enough to occupy a large urban apartment complex. The one out by the highway is large enough that it'd only have partial occupancy if every single Skyrim human lived in it, including the handful in Bruma, Beyond reach, and Solstheim).

I mean, after all, Skyrim is simply a large cemetery with really large mausoleums plopped down on the green space all over the place. (sped up time is used to deceive the player into believing things are farther away than they are. I can easily walk from one end to the other in a single game day when its time-pace set close to real time.

FWIW, the way I've expanded my space is by adding the Beyond Skyrim Bruma and Reach extensions, as well as a couple of other "new lands" expansions, maybe doubling - or slightly over - the playable space.

PS> anyone know why I can't upload a photo as a viewable object to a nexus forum post anymore? (only allows as downloadable content)
