coldfire2020
I'm having trouble downloading most mods. Whenever I try, the File Download window says the type is unknown and if I still try and install it, I get nothing. Any ideas why?
Arcelas
Are they OMODs? Cause you'll need OBMM to install those. If they are RAR's or 7z you'll winrar to open them. If they aren't dowloading thats another problem altogether. Always make sure you click on "save" not "run" .If I'm way off base here reply with more details and I'll try to help further. bben46
When windows says a file type is unknown it means that there is no program associated with that file type such as 7z or rar. You must first have the program to associate it with, then associate those type files with that program. The program needed is a file compression/uncompress program, such as Winrar, Winzip or 7-zip. I recommend 7-zip as it is entirely FREE, and will work with winrar as well as any other compressed file format I have tried. Winrar is a try before you buy program and starts nagging you to pay after a while. Note that Neither winrar or 7-zip are mods and do not install like mods. They are programs and work with many other things besides oblivion, or other games. I have complete instructions for installing 7-zip, and associating the compressed file formats such as 7z, rar and zip so they will always open with 7-zip. Complete with pictures. Look here: The 7-zip instructions are in the Downloading your mod section, the file association is in the How to associate file types section, but I recommend reading the entire set of help files in order.
